The Arborian Revelers

One of the things you can always count on is people's desire to become inebriated and escape from the horrors and mundanity of everyday life, and the Revelers are more than happy to provide the libations to allow for such things. Originally an order of monks dedicated to the tree that survived the Reconciliation, they still continue on though with no outward religious displays or signs of worship. Some say though that through their brewing they still maintain their old ways and many have called for their dissolution... that is until they take a drink of Glide or Float Cider and then no one can deny that the brewers are very good at their craft. In addition and in order to appease the church they also provide a portion of their production to the church for religious services this particular drink is made from Star Rose and is only made for the church due to the rarity of the main ingredient, it's name is Arborian Starlight.

Public Agenda:

Publicly the Revelers only exist to produce and provide quality libations for the citizens of Arbor. They produce a number of different alcoholic beverages which are distributed to the various pubs, bars and clubs throughout the city. Of course the one exception to this is Arborian Starlight which is only produced in extremely small batches and is only provided to the The Order of the Fallen Leaves. The Monks if you can still call them that have become quite profitable due to their expertise and craftsmanship. They take their craft very seriously and only those who are truly dedicated need even consider applying for work within the abbey. The monks are under a heavy amount of scrutiny from within the church and the general populace but they have always sworn that beyond their craft they have no other religion save for the one followed by the Order.

Public Perception

Lower Class

As providers of alcohol the Revelers are incredibly popular with the lower class. In addition to producing alcohol though the monks also do a large amount of charity within the city particularly around the area that is their distillery ingratiating them with their neighbors to the point that few other companies dare mess with their deliveries or indeed any member.

Middle Class

For most of the middle class the monks are seen in a very positive light, they are fine craftsmen, upstanding members of the community and while their charity work rarely directly benefits them they can find little fault with it. There is a small group that finds their hedonism and perhaps heresy slightly alarming.

Upper Class

For the upper class the monks barely register, they are primarily interested in wines and such things the only product of them they might be interested in is of course Arborian Starlight but even they cannot get their hands on this rare liquor without very special contacts within the church or stealing it from the monks themselves.

History:

The Arborian Revelers can trace their origins all the way back to before the Reconciliation being one of the many religions formed out of the primordial soup that was the beginning of Arbor. However unlink most of the others who have either gone into deep hiding or been absorbed into the Order's flock the Revelers managed to stay out of the fighting and maintain their own identity though not without some concessions. The main thing they still must do in order to maintain their status as an independent company and not be absorbed by the Order is to provide Arborian Starlight for religious purposes to the Order in perpetuity. The monks are more than happy to do this as they are want to continue in their traditions of revelry and wish to keep the peace with the much larger and more powerful church.

Attire / Common Garb / Quirks:

The Revelers have a touch of whimsy about them and so does their attire, they all love a good joke and making them laugh is a good way to make a friend for life and get some free samples while you're at it. As for their clothing this depends on who you are interacting with, there are two sets of attire one for the brewers and another for the admin staff.

Brewers

Strictly speaking there isn't so much a uniform as there are guideline but you can expect to see much of the following from a brewer. Many wear a thick canvas apron the distillers logo emblazoned over the heart. On top of their head it is customary for a metal skull cap to be worn which is both protective and ceremonial in nature. Many of the brewmasters are quite old so move slowly through the distillery looking for the next cask to open and test.

Admin

Not the most glamorous job in the company but managing the finances is necessary and as such the admin take a no nonsense approach to their attire. They still have the skull cap of their brethren but opt for a sharp 3 piece suit in lieu of robes or any other monkish garb.

Structure and Hierarchy:

For an company mostly devoted to a good time they have a fairly simple hierarchy that allows for the most freedom in what they do

Abbot

The leader of the Revelers they are responsible for the general direction of the group along with being it's figure head. They are an elected position lasting a period of 3 years chosen from the monks but not including either the Brewmasters or Cellarer. Their main focus is on recruitment and smoothing over any deals with the various publicans, innkeepers and other merchants that carry the wares the company produces. The title Abbot is one of historical relevance and holds no religious significance these days.

Cellarer

The main person responsible for the finances of the Revelers, they keep the books order any supplies and ensure the smooth running of the day to day operations of the distillery. They will also secure any trade deals that might exist outside of the city though these are few and far between.

Brewmasters

Technically there are three of these at present one of each of the alcohols produced, it should also be noted that while there is no official hierarchy between them there is a great deal of prestige that comes with being the brewmaster for Arborian Starlight. Each of the brewmasters are particular on their own product those being the aforementioned Starlight, Glide and Float Cider. There is always room for another brewmaster should another alcohol be produced that meets their high standards but thus far these are the only three.

Monks

The rank and file of the Distillery though not true monks in the religious sense they are full members of the company and will assist with whatever duties that are required within the distillery. they are trusted with some of the secrets of the brewing process and some will go on to become Brewmasters themselves some day.

Lay brothers

New members to the company they are recruited from the general populace after demonstrating a want to hone the craft of brewing and alcohol production. There are few within the city that meet the companies requirements but those that do are promised a good life and a rewarding one.
