Newcourt Market
Newcourt Market is a large, open-air marketplace in the town of Hamia. It also has a fresh water well that supplies many of the citizens of the city with water.
While there are a few permament stalls in the market, it really comes alive during Shipsday, when farmers and craftspeople from the area bring their produce and goods into town for sale. It is then that the market becomes a loud, thriving, commecial hub of not only Hamia, but of the entire surrounding area.
The stalls include:
- Whale oil
- Street stage / bandstand - where actors play out important historical events - paid for by the leading/richest family in Hamia - it also serves as the morning news for extremely important events.
- Fish market
- Farmer's produce
- Herbs & spices
- Armourer - who owns a store bordering the market
- Tea
- Potions made by a local apothacary
- Jewellery - pretty, simple, inexpensive
- Meat - VERY fresh and hanging for all to pick their cuts
- Recruitment tent - An officer of the town guard is available each Shipsday to encourage young people to join the town guard.
- Books, scrolls, quills and inks
- Perfumery
- Surivalist's gear
