Serkia

The Last Frontier

The last frontier of the continent, Serkia is a land of thick forests and deadly winters. The land were elves originate from, it has also once been settled by dwarves in the south, humans in the west and skågjar in the north.   Nowadays, dwarves and skågjar have deserted the land for the most part. Only dark elves survive in the Elder Forest, and sparse human tribes have settlements dotted on the rocky fields. There are also a few medium-sized towns that belong to a cofraternity of Union settlers and the less barbaric locals.   Elves and skågjar fought for this land during the Primordial Era. Humans also traversed this land coming from the east, settling from the northern tip of Serkia all the way to south to Wolvenfield. Dwarven populations also made small settlements during late PE and early SE, but most moved south, to Snowmarch.   Starting on 754 AT, the Union Kingdoms made several attempts at conquering and taking over Serkia, trying to recoup the glory of their foundation days. These attempts were, for the most part, unsuccesful.

Geography

The north collides with the sea. During clear summer days, Skåg can be seen in the distance. Fjords are very prominent here. The west is mountaineous, and features a rather large mountain known as Obsidian Peak. The central and eastern areas are covered in forests that gets thicker the further east, with patches of sedimentary rock in between. The forest is cut short by the Haradron Range. The south opens up, letting the wind reign free, who creates a frozen badland, an almost impassable obstacle during winter.

Fauna & Flora

Coniferous trees and berry bushes make up the forests. The western area features very few, large trees.   Wolves, bears, deers, boars, owls, eagles, foxes, ferrets, opposums, hares, hawks and mammoths are the predominant land fauna.   Salmon, trout, whales, killer whales, dolphins, seagulls, albatross and giant squids are the predominant water fauna.

Natural Resources

The forests provide plenty of wood, but the dangers of the area prevent mass exploitation.   Locals often trade in furs, meat, honey and blubber. Serkia has no official monetization and coinage is useless outside of Union settlements.
