Sealbone Bay

Sealbone Bay (or Gavarn Wêv in Serkian) is the name given to a large area that encompasses not only the appropiate bay, but the surrounding fjords and woods. The name is a reference to the fact that it features a very large seal graveyard. It is also rumored to be the place where "adlet" (Humanoid dog creatures) make their home.   Located to the west-centre of Serkia, Sealbone Bay is home to the wildest serkian tribes. Contact with such tribes is not only not recommended, but downright pointless. They are the ones that managed, in 754, 761 and 789 AT respectively to stop the conquest of Serkia by the Union Kingdoms. The area still features, far from the coast and the fjords, two small towns.   Ciran was the last serkian town to be captured in 789 AT, and has been turned into an outpost of the Union. Locals still live within the city, and have been largely homogenized with the invader's culture. Ciran has seen little to no growth, partially thanks to the constant threat of wild serkian attacks. The town is still however a point of interest for many Union nobles, who see it as the place to stage a new conquest of The Last Frontier.   Towards the southeast, almost in Snowmarch, Whilaz is the other city. A relic of another time, this dwarven town holds the dubious title of the last proper thal-karon city. Hardly populated, specially in comparison with the dwarven settlements in Snowmarch, it has however manage to keep many traditions alive, like beard-brading and beer-brawling. Whilaz is technically built within Union territory, but the Thal-Kharon Accord has forced the Union to keep their nose out of Whilaz's bussiness.

Geography

The northern coast is rocky and muddy, with treacherous fjords cutting the coast like knives. Towards the western side of the fjords, a large strand has been made famous by the fact that every year, hundreds of seals and other animals go there to die. The phenomenon has not been completely explained, and few care enough to risk the dangerous trip and locals to research further.   The fjords eventually die, giving place to rolling fields. While the ground is rocky enough to make agriculture a nightmare, it is not impossible, and it is there where the two towns are built   Towards the southeastern side, a body of water known as Teardrop Lake (Barlon Thew for the locals, meaning "Sky-blue Lake") marks the end of Sealbone Bay and the beginning of Deerwood. This lake is the final place of the Crying River which crosses the Valley of Tears. Nomadic tribes of locals often use the lake's coast as a place to settle for the winter, as the temperatures are far more tolerable than far south.

Fauna & Flora

Foxes, hares, boars and hawks are most of what can be found here. Occasionaly, wolves or mammoths.   Towards the coast, specially during winter, seals and carrion birds are a very common sight.

Natural Resources

Agriculture is hard but serviceable in the southern area. The Teardrop Lake offers plenty of fish as well.   Most of what is produced here is kept for local consumption, which has kept the landscape unnaffected by civilization. However, the promise of seafood, whale blubber and seal hide has been the main push for conquest of the coastal regions.
