Phyrium
Ah, the things you could accomplish with this. The pranks alone would be worthy of song.Somewhere between stone and metal, Phyrium is a rare material from the Far Deep that never cools. Phyrium holds any heat it absorbs and only extraordinary means will cool it again. It is difficult to find and even more challenging to harvest, at home in some of the most hostile caverns of the Far Deep. Only a handful of things have ever been forged from Phyrium, each with a legend to its name.
Description
When polished and sharpened, Phyrium gleams and cuts like metal. Its colors become more pronounced and pure, treated Phyrium has a color comparable to a naked flame. It is heavier than steel and significantly harder to break. When heated, it begins to glow from red to white with wisps of heat curling off from the Phyrium.
Properties
The greatest work with Phyrium has not been done with hammer and anvil, but with Thaumaturgy. Thaumaturgs bend the stone-metal with will and force it into shape with ritual to create objects well beyond any mortal smiths, molding the ever-burning Phyrium like clay.No one is sure if there is a limit on how hot Phyrium can get. If there is, no one has yet to see it - not even in the heart of Hkata, where Phyrium sprouts from the ground and glow white-hot from the heat.
Hkata A hellscape of choking smoke, abyssal plains of ash and rivers of molten fire, Hkata is where nearly all Phyrium have ever been found. It is a Far Deep region of fire and ash, where only the most skilled Kaia can hope to survive. Read More About Hkata
Unquenchable Flame
Phyrium can be cooled, but only with great effort. Even completely submerging Phyrium is not guaranteed to work, as the Phyrium might melt or evaporate whatever it was encased in before it can be cooled. Every smith who works Phyrium must find their own way. Every piece brought out from the Far Deep is unique and there have never been enough to establish any sort of sure way.A few treasure Phyrium for different reasons, using the ever-burning stone to heat their forge or create blazes that melt anything. Such forges imbue the metal it works with a spark of the Phyrium's essence - or so the legends go.
I really enjoy this article! I love the use of pictures and sidebar content to display information. I would like to see what kind of notable people in Araea have been known to use the material in different forms throughout history.
Thank you! :D I am trying to figure out what else to add to the article - some famous people and famous Phyrium objects might be a good addition! Thank you so much for the read and the comment! <3
