Mousefolk

Mousefolk are small humanoid-like animalfolk. Some are great scholars, warriors, and craftsman. Mousefolk are often likened to the halfling race for their demeanor and curiosity. Despite their bestial appearance, mice are internally closer to halflings than rats.This is true as they are descended from mutated halfling stock.

Basic Information

Biological Traits

Mousefolk look like a cross between a halfling and a mouse, but that is just superficial. Most are peaceable creatures, but they will protect their own. A few in every generation are destined for greatness and become the peoples' champions.

Genetics and Reproduction

Mousefolk gestation lasts 3-4 months, a the mothers bears 1-6 pups with an average of 3.

Growth Rate & Stages

They are weaned 1 month later and begin eating solid food. Mousefolk grow quickly and are mature at 2 years old.

Ecology and Habitats

Any temperate land.

Dietary Needs and Habits

Mousefolk are mostly vegetarian although them won't pass up a good fish or cheese.

Social Structure

Mousefolk usually live in large extended families under the same roof. They are very social and like living near each other.

They have short wide faces, a button nose, large ears and whiskers.

Most Mousefolk live on Animus, but they are also found on Sylvania and Avalonia.

Naming Traditions

Their names are usually very simple, often only a first name except when something important happens and then a descriptor is added.

Male: martin, mortimer, jarvis, hugo, gonff, arthen, mattimeo, ardek, cador, bryak, mattais, kenal, kenver, olyver, luke

Female: cornflower, daisy, columbine, lowen, beryan, derwa, jenifry, aria, amelia, isla, lily, rose, mia, orla

Mousefolk are a developing Iron Age culture.

Mousin and Common. They can learn: Dwarven, Elven, Gnome, Goblin, Halfling and Sylvan

Common Etiquette Rules

They are generous and friendly to all but enemies.

History

Mousefolk changed in a similar way to the Kangu, but their trigger was being caught in an affected rainstorm. Their change was mostly an increase in intelligence, speech and an extended lifespan.

They quickly put their new cranial capacity to use by building structures, arms and armor to protect themselves from the roving hordes of vermin.

Adventurous mousefolk are slim and wiry, but homebodies tend toward chubbiness.
Body Tint, Colouring and Marking
Most Mousefolk fur are in various shades of brown, but they can also be gray, white or black. Their underbelly usually is of a lighter shade of their main color, commonly white. Their feet coloring usually matches their underbelly.
