Independant Frayed
Independant Frayed are a subcategorisation of The Frayed, a group of mortals sung into existence by Valence, the Usurper. They are free from the influence of their creator, and seek to expand their experience of life however they can. When the College of Imagination was made illegal after the slaying of Valence, several practitioners of the teachings of the College went into hiding, avoiding the great culling. There, they passed down their knowledge from generation to generation. Their amateur practice led to many mistakes, creating a new generation of Frayed, this time completely independent of Valence. These Frayed resemble regular humanoids as opposed to the perfect forms of Valence’s Chosen, and their forms are not as stable, and requires energy, lest the Frayed crumble into dust and slip into the ethereal realm permanently. They require a steady supply of magical energy, and whether this comes from magical fields, items, spells or even other creature’s fear and paranoia, and, as such are often nomadic, usually draining the village they are present in entirely of magic over the course of years before needing to disappear. The dust that is left behind in their wake is a natural byproduct of their fleeting form, and is a powerful magical conduit, sort after by many wizards and merchants.
