Hundred Lantern Hall
With its four turrets topped with ever-burning braziers, the building known as Hundred Lantern Hall is an iconic part of Khara's skyline. It is a historic building, old even among the city's Ancient Quarter, constructed of native limestone some 900 years ago. From its position at the edge of Lake Khara, it stands as a bastion of justice and peace; for the last four hundred years, it has served as the home base of the Kharaian branch of the Dawn Legion.
Primarily, the hall serves as a base of operations for the Legion with everything from living quarters to training grounds to an armory. Forty-five full-time Legionnaires are quartered at the Hundred Lantern Hall, and a further two hundred and fifty report to the hall regularly to consult with leadership. At the building's heart is the Lantern Court, a grandiose courtroom used for formal trials ran by the Legion; though these trials are rare, occasional matters of ceremony make up for that by providing another purpose for the Court.
Its namesake hundred lanterns are bronze fixtures lit with ever-burning magical flame, all bolted in a straight row across the top of the building. Each represents one legionnaire in the original Kharaian Dawn Legion, and each has a name chiseled into the limestone above it, surrounded by a stylized sun. These lanterns are dimmed only in recognition of a death, either that of a Kharaian legionnaire or a higher authority within the Legion, after which their glow is made faint for the following three days.
