A respected war hero across all of Sheanora, Empress Eristea Renardin is the undisputed leader of Mephistia and the woman who helped to bring her nation out of three decades of war, both external and internal.
Eristea was born to the Renardin family, but rejected her father's worship of fiends at a young age, escaping to the The Baskan Isles and joining a monastery to be taught the ways of Monaia, The Calming Wind under the tutelage of her estranged uncle. As her father's war raged on, she tried to keep out of it, but was drawn in when the Mephistian navy sank a boat she was travelling in, killing her uncle in the process.
Her adventures are legendary, whispered between school children, depicted in books and plays. She united nations, transformed adversaries into allies, and led a small band of warriors into her father's fortress, killing the archdevil who had taken up residence there and defeating her father. Despite this, she remains humble, refusing to talk about that time in her life - except when it pertains to the matter at hand. Regardless, it is widely accepted that her actions helped to bring an end to the Infernal Wars. Her son, Damakos Renardin, was born on the day the Baskan Accords were signed.
Since then, Eristea has helped to forge a new Mephistia, eliminating devil-worshipping nobles from their stations of power and bringing peace after generations of conflict. Even still, she is constantly under threat due to the prolonged fiendish influence on the people of her country. Betrayed dozens of times, she still stands tall, a beacon of light in a dark world.
Eristea is a deeply moral woman, wounded by the fact that she had to resort to so much violence to bring peace, and cares deeply for the people she serves. However, she hides this behind a veneer of coldness, presenting herself as battle hardened so that her enemies will not view her as weak.

Eristea is a short, elderly woman of 73 years. She wears the white and gold robes of a priestess of Monaia, though she is no longer a member of the clergy. She often appears broader than she truly is because she also continues to wear her clerical armor beneath the robes, because of how many attempts at her life have been made over the years. She keeps her dark gray hair tied in a bow behind her hair.
