Asherynn

A gorgeous and sprawling underwater city centered on a massive coral reef just below the surface.

Defences

Asherynn is built within, on, and around a massive and flourishing coral reef. The reef provides physical and magical protection to the city, and the animals that dwell around the city in the reef can be dangerous to outsiders as well.

Industry & Trade

Organic gemstones like coral and pearl are frequently harvested, worked, and sold within Asherynn walls. Watersteel is the main import of Asherynn, much of its buildings built with the beautifully shimmering and translucent metal.

Infrastructure

In the Market District, some floating vendors anchor themselves to one another so that they can sell to merfaery and land-faery alike. In other parts of the city, buildings are linked to one another to ensure they do not drift, sink, or float too close to other buildings. Enchantments also provide the bulk of protection against severe drifting and collision.

Districts

Market District: a large network of markets ranging from grocers to independent artists and craftsmen to enchanters and breeders. The Market District is the closest district to the land, some of its markets actually existing above the water's surface to try and lure in land-faery coin and bartering.

Tourism

The largest of the low-depth cities in the entirety of the ocean, Asherynn is a favorite of the land-dwelling faery tourists. It is beautifully colored with natural coral growths, watersteel buildings and accents, and plenty of sunlight and underwater lighting.

Architecture

Pathways are signified by enchanted floating adornments, usually light fixtures of some sort. Many buildings are built outward, with other buildings outlaid overtop or below. They are warded with carefully-concealed carvings that appear ornamental.

Geography

The "earth" of the city is mostly coral, with some sandy and gravelly breaks  in coral. As such, and as is the nature of underwater cities, there are no physical earth-paths to follow. The varying terrain of coral and sandy ground makes Asherynn akin to a hilly city.
