Properties

Physical & Chemical Properties

The lumber itself is robust and very strong.

Geology & Geography

The tree that this lumber is harvested from is only found in the 'Elder Forest'.

Origin & Source

This lumber is originally from the 'Giant Elven Tree'. A single tree is capable of providing enough lumber to build an entire small village.

History & Usage

History

The collection of this lumber has been filled with conflict since the first 'Giant Elven Tree' was cut down. The Elves that live within the trees saw the act as a threat to their own lives, and retaliated against the Humans, who saw the trees a vital resource in starting their villages upon the ground.

Everyday use

The lumber is used in a variety of products, from structural bones of large buildings to the keels of large ships.

Cultural Significance and Usage

Elves view the trees that the lumber comes from as their home, and the only safe place from the horrors that stalk the forest floor. As a result they are highly against the creation of the lumber, for it means part of their home has been destroyed.

Industrial Use

Humans view the lumber as a vital resource in the production of many items, and a single tree provides enough lumber to build entire small villages or ships.

Refinement

To get the lumber, loggers must spend days cutting through the base of the tree to get it to fall to the ground. Once on the ground they have to remove he bark, and start to cut the trunk into usable planks.

Distribution

Law & Regulation

In the early eras there was no regulations against cutting the trees, and humans cut many down to fuel their need for lumber. When the various folk came together to promote peace there was conflicts on what to do about the trees, for the Elves wanted the logging to stop, while the Humans wanted to increase the rate they were cutting. Eventually they came to compromise that Humans could cut down a certain amount of trees per year in certain areas.
