in Andorra

Andorra has nine patron dieties, native to and creators of the lands its people. These are considered the native gods, the true gods, or the old gods. Five hundred years ago the world was sundered at the end of the First Age, thus defeating the elven Tuatha empire. This sundering opened up the world to other planes of existence. This brought in planar beings, and they brought their own gods with them. These gods were widely considered heresy, but the world is in an uneasy peace. This peace has allowed these new faiths to begin to spread.

The Nine

"The Void was alone. The Universe was filled with empty stars, grand creations of Void who spent countless years carefully crafting each one, yet life couldn't take root. So the Void began coalescing its power and from the maelstrom it created nine siblings were born. First was Uris, the daughter, silent as death. Second was Aesis, the son, strong as stone. Third was Aorr, the son, who loved the dark. Forth was Aneyar, the daughter, whos love was with the Natural Order. Fifth was Aonus, the daughter, whos love was freedom. Sixth was Silous, the son, whos radiance equaled the greatest of stars. Seventh was Osto'a, the son, who embodied intrinsic chaos. Eighth was Amana, the daughter, who loved the void more than all. Ninth was Ielia, the daughter, whos love was life itself. Then they went into the Universe in search of hearth." - Of Beginnings, Lord Cylus Andor 353 F.A. The Nine are children of the Void itself. Born with immense power and the ability to shape the universe to their will. Together they settled on Andorra and shaped the world and its life. They still walk among the people, often in disguise to take pleasure in their creations. Five out of the Nine would later rebel against their creator, and are known as the Rebel Gods. The remaining four have taken on a piece of the Void's will into their very being, and are now known as The Four Aspects.

The Nine and the Void represent orderly clerical traditions. Their places of worship are churches, and are not unlike what we see from the Catholic Church. They consider themselves an Orthodoxy, and the worship of the Outer Gods as heathen, or pagan, or blasphemy. Clerical ranks are Priest, Bishop, Archbishop, Cardinals, and the Sovereign. The Monastic Order of Aneyar is an order of druids that have taken a vow of poverty and are also under the authority of the church. Thier ranks are brother or sister, then Friar or Nun. Also under the direction of the church is a military order of paladins called the Dark Templars. Their ranks are squire, knight, knight-lord, Knight-Inquisitor, and knight-captain. They have their own holy sites where huge church compounds are built, and have had their own religious cannon conventions over the many centuries resulting in three holy books. The first testiment is called The Word of Void and goes over early creation myths. The Nine Virtues go over the edicts of the Void's children. The Saintly Chronicles is the last book and is the only one of the three still actively updated. It charts the history and deeds of those the church have deemed Saints over the years.

The Outer Gods

To the best of our knowledge, the Outer Gods are powerful beings native to the planes. Like most spirits of these planes, they have the ability to affect our reality in minor ways without taking up our physical space. It seems that these other planes of existence were sealed off from Andorra at some point in pre-history, but the Sundering has weakened that seal somehow. Lower spirits have since passed over to this world and have, over the last five hundred years, had children with native Andorrans or have otherwise lead mortal existences. These planar beings leaders are what we call the Outer Gods. Whether they have crossed over physically or are just able to affect our realm spiritually no one really knows. What we do know, however, is that for the last five hundred years their touch has been observed on our world.
