The First Brood

For centuries the existence of dragons and their origins remained a mystery. The church scholars of the Void marked the high elves as the first civilized society to ever walk Andorra's shores. The first scholar and emperor Cylus Andor penned not a single word about dragons, their lands, or any hint of their ancient societies. As far as the First Age was concerned, dragons simply did not exist.   It wasn't until the events at the Anvil, and the bringing of the Second Age, that the truth came about. Before the Void's children made their way from the outer reaches the gods of the planes had been slowly cultivating new life on the material plane. The first gaurdians of this new life were created, the dragons. These first clutch of dragons existed beyond the constraints of metallic or chromatic, good or evil. Instead these dragon gods grew their brood and spread across the land as the first empire. For centuries they kept safe creation as the fae and heavenly planes went about forming material reality.   Then came the question of Free Will. Hel, consort of Asherah, believed creation was too precious to allow for the addition of free mortals. She feared such creatures would quickly grow wicked and that in their pursuit of power all of creation would be left tarnished. Hel gathered support amongst the angels and among the dragons. This divided the planes into those who wanted to let this new creation exist without constraint, and those that would allow such creations if they were governed and controlled.   This War of Free Will left early Andorra in tatters. Many of the ancient dragonic kingdoms were demolished. To keep creation safe the children of the First Brood of dragons agreed to a long slumber, and many of the First Brood agreed to retreat to the planes. The heavens split with many becoming the devils of Bataar, and the ancient dragonic portals between realms were sealed. They would not open again until the Second Age.   The First Brood are the first dragons to ever be created, and were leaders in their own right over various dragonic empires. They hold the powers of gods and goddesses, and many of their number perished well before the First Age. Of those that remain are Bahamut, Tiamat, Nyx, Naeneve, and Nakrah.
