Gerend
Demographics
Almost all citizens of Gerend are Kíans. Only a few are from Dagdír. The majority are farmers. However, there are many merchants in Gerens offering many goods and services.
Government
Gerend is run by the Lord of Ardenka who lives there. He answers to the Baron of Sabarva. His taxes lie on the upper limit of affordable for most people.
The guards and soldiers in Gerend are in charge of upholding the King's laws and are usually too harsh and unfair.
Industry & Trade
Once a year before summer, a trade caravan always stops at Gerens, bringing new wares for sale. Otherwise, very little outside trade goes on, limited to the residents of the Ardenka Basin basin.
Infrastructure
The roads in Gerend are simple dirt tracks but are well maintained. There is a bridge to the east connecting it to the road to Batrar. There are a number of watermills along the river.

Gerend has fourteen shoemakers, eight tailors, six barbers, five taverns, four pastrycooks, four masons, four carpenters, three weavers, three bakeries, two wine sellers, two hatmakers, two fishmongers, one butcher, one plasterer, one spice merchant and one blacksmith.
History
Gerend was the first settlement founded in the basin. It was originally called 'Gerna Tuska' meaning Valley End in Gaervar. Over time, the Tuska part was translated to 'End' while the Gerna part stayed the same and the two words were combined into one.
Architecture
Most buildings are simple and largely made from wood. A few of the richer houses have bricks, including that of the Lord. Most have upper floors.
Geography
Gerend has a river running north through it. It is close to the edge of Ithwed lake.
