Cult of Tarvik

Structure

The cult is largely disorganised with different sectors carrying out their own agenda. Some focus more on simple worship while other mainly act as vandals and terrorists. There are priests of Tarvik but no High priests like in Ahnadhus and all priests are male as Tarvik himself is male.   King Tasa is an important member of the cult as he is a king. However, as he is not a priest of Tarvik, he is not a leader.

Public Agenda

While different sectors may, for the most part do their own thing, all believe that Tarvik needs to be freed from his imprisonment in order to bring about a new world with his followers in positions of power and the rest of the world as theirs to control.

Assets

The cult is mostly funded by rich nobles. King Tasa gives the largest amount of money and has even given over land to followers of Tarvik. As they keep to themselves and no one openly admitts association to the cult, it is difficult to ascertain what belongs to individual members and what belongs to the cult itself.

History

The cult of Tarvik is as old as Ahnadhus itself, being an offshoot of the main religion. Initially the cult was formed to pray to Tarvik in the hopes of preventing his escape from imprisonment. For many centuries, the cult was well respected by everyone as they were seen as doing an important job.   However, in the late Jaen Era, a radical priest called Skentar Jae' Danondaer began converting other members to his new way of thinking, that Tarvik would be their saviour once he was released, cleansing the world of sinners and allowing his followers to take control. Initially, these radicalists were dismissed as nothing but troublemakers. The group was called the Skentarap radicalists after the leader.   However, the radical ideology spread across the continent and gained momentum. Soon they had become the majority. The cult split in two, with one part continuing to follow the old ways, now calling themselves The Keepers of Tarvik, and the larger part now focused on a way to free Tarvik, claiming the original name.   The Keepers of Tarvik still remain to this day but are very few in number and are only found in large temples. The current cult still retains the old name of Skentar but it is now used in a derogitory way.

Mythology & Lore

It is believed that the Chaos God Tarvik will one day be freed from his prison within the world and bring about a new world. Followers of Tarvik believe the gods imprisoned him out of fear as he was stronger than them and they wanted to prevent him from fulfilling his purpose as the true creator of worlds by destroying the world they had made and starting again.   It is believed that once Tarvik is free, his followers will be allowed to occupy positions of power to aid in Tarvik's reformation of the world while the rest of the people will be killed for being non-believers or become Tarvik's slaves to rebuild the world.

Divine Origins

The cult comes from the original Cult of Tarvik, dedicated to praying to the gods to ensure Tarvik's eternal imprisonment. However, the cult's views changed over time and now they are dedicated to praying to Tarvik directly in the hopes of his release.

Worship

Prayer is carried out every day. Different sectors will have a certain time of day at which they pray. Some sectors will pray multiple times per day. Often, prayer is accompanied by an animal sacrifice, typically small mammals such as rats, rabbits, cats or dogs as well as small birds and other animals easily caught.   On certain days, such as Irken Saesnad, a human sacrifice may be made. Only a few sectors of the cult do this as they want to aviod being caught. Prayer is usually carried out and ended with the sacrifice.

Priesthood

Each sect will have it's own priest or set of priests. Any man may become a priest of Tarvik. The role of a priest is to lead prayer and carry out the sacrifices. Priests are typically the only ones who wear robes, coloured dark green.

Political Influence & Intrigue

The cult has corrupted Kíathandí, it's king a devout follower. This has caused the kingdom to decline into unrest with the majority of the population unhappy with the current state of their kningdom.
