Moongarten

The capital city of Moongarten exudes an elvish aura. Here the frenzy of the humans has not corrupted the slow pace of the elves that call it home. Elves from all over, even drow, flock to the haven in the forest to reunite with kin and find peace. Most outsiders feel uncomfortable in the city after just a few days, unable to adjust to pace of the elves who are nearly untouched by time. Here they savour their lengthy lives beneath the unbroken canopy of Knightfall forest as it wraps up Moongarten.   The center of the city houses an enormous piece of moonshard embedded in the forest floor which glows like an eldritch iceberg. The city grows out from that center in circular rings of trees like tight groves. Each tree cradles an elaborate elvish tree house or building. There are buildings built along the ground, but the elves differentiate between tree life and ground life, creating multiple cultures inside the city.   The elves have converted the moon shard into a temple to their god, Orla, The Moon Queen   Locations & Major Hubs:
  • Orla's Boon - A brewery and Inn run by a wood elf named Marta
  • The Hive Tapper - A meadary and hookah bar run by a High Elf named Cadius Apiarian
  • The Ne-Bokashi Council Chamber -- a large room carved out of Orla's Gem that the council meets in
  • Corria's Pool & Orla's Temple - A beautiful white stone pool with smooth white stones in the water. A large statue to the goddess sits and moves gently, speaking to those who enter the enormous white temple that stands behind.
  • Dink's Airship - A refuge for non-elves a crashed airship that has been converted to an inn, bazzar, and home for travelers.
  • The Foundry of Aynagal - Elven made weapons and equipment can be purchased or commissioned here. They can make weapons that do radiant damage.

God//Saints//Religions
People here tend to worship Orla. Deviant worship would be Orton worship. The moonshard has been cut into a temple.     Holidays//Calendar//Seasons
  • Orla's Revenge - Every three years the moonshard glows blood red. It is a holy and sacred day for all elves.
  • Mandalani's Archery Competition - The greatest archer in the land is named here and people from all over Amerielle flick to the city to compete.

Daily life Life here moves so much slower. These are elves and they're not in a hurry. Anyone who just switched from life with humans and other short lived races are immediately overwhelmed by how slowly things move.
  Conflicts
  • High elf and wood elf don't fully agree in how much involvement humans should have in the area.
  • Conflict between the new trader and Feldgrau who has recently become indebted to the sly, Callina Shade, the leader of the drow in Moongarten.
META----- What would someone outside know?
  • Little of note, they might have heard of the council but likely none of the families.
  • They'd have heard of a city guarded by owl bears.

Industry & Trade

The trees burst with fruits of all kinds and seemly wild-grown vegetables spread across the ground, but each is tended by the ancient and legendary botanist Feldgrau Riveroak as she ensures the entire population can be sustained without harvest the surrounding forest.

History

Found by Corria Lavenderdusk when she wondered through the forest starved during The Blight. She stumbled across a piece of moon, Orla embodied, and here she met Orla, The Moon Queen who told her that she should take heart, her cries had been heard and that she would be able to found a city here and people from all over the forest would come and call this home.   They built the city around a giant piece of Orla's Moon, embedded about halfway through the ground giving off an eternal white light that filters through the trees. In fact Corria's first house was built into the rock itself and this is now where the ruling council of elves lives.

Architecture

The houses are made of stone, wood, and fine most of which are above the ground in large trees conneced by rope and vine bridges. A young elf plants a tree and builds their home as it grows, connecting it to their parents home as a way of staying connected but living free.

Geography

Moongarten can be accessed both from the east, leaving the road at Dark Rapids and also by the south heading north from the settlement of Alar. The forest, however, does not make such journey easy. The trees and plants exhibit the chaos that shapes the elves. One can sense the fey creature and shadowfell all around as the chaos bandies about.   The heart is the temple to Shallia and immediately out front is the pool. From there the trees are ring shaped that continue to fan out further and further into the forest. The drow temple of Orton sits on the outermost northern portion and there some of the most troublesome but tollerated population lives. Shadowhall. To the east is the foundry of Aryngal and in a tree in the third ring is Dinks Airship
