Personal history

Incident at Jordan (1932)

Service in War (1940-1941)

Post War 1940s

In the early 1940s Echo continued her work with the Fruits, fighting against the Nazis until the Allied had finally won. Her relationship with Willi picked up as they attempted to find the romance they long flirted with during the war. Echo, wishing to put another part of Rachel’s life to rest, abandoned her first name and took the alias the German’s gave her in the war, Weiss, as her new name.   As time went on she became increasingly dissatisfied with the lifestyle that was required of a cleric. Her tendency for extremes brought her into odds with the tenants of her faith and god, Ekhart. Eventually she spoke with Ekhart and a plan was devised to both pass on her powers and train up successor. Weiss would act as an instructor and protector of her apprentice, keeping them from harm until they were ready to set out on their own power.   Instructed by Ekhart to go to an orphanage, she found a young red-headed dwarf, Khedda Coppervein. Weiss immediately set out to train her new apprentice, the young dwarf eager to learn, excited as Weiss had given her a purpose. A year of preparation passed and the ritual of transference was performed, Weiss’s powers now resting with her apprentice, though it was only a seed of power that needed to be fostered.   Weiss’s new responsibilities put a strain on her and Willis relationship, with Weiss focusing on her training and mentorship of Khedda, and Willi focusing on the politics of managing the government of Germany. Without the threat of war that was the kindling for the relationship, they drifted apart, with the relationship ending after a little over two years, though they still promised to remain friends.   Weiss eventually approached Tautau and Casper, asking them to train her. Tautau would be her mentor in magic, and Kasper would be her mentor in stealth and thievery. Casper also hired many tutors, hoping to find the combat style that would best accent Weiss’s capabilities.   When the West Russian War broke out, Weiss and Khedda traveled to the region. She kept Khedda away from the violent parts of the war, not wanting to put her apprentice in harm’s way, opting for more support missions.   Weiss was eventually called back to America by the United States Congress, where she was to stand trial for war profiteering. While the trial itself was extremely heated in arguments, with Weiss herself being fined for saying several explicit statements to Senator Brewster and being held in contempt of congress, no substantial evidence could be found, and she was acquitted of all charges.   The end of the decade was brought to a close with Weiss purchasing a house in Massachusetts, and enrolling Khedda in the Salem Academy. Weiss herself enrolled in the Academy's graduate programs, aiming to earn her doctorate degree in magical applications.

1950s

Four years after enrolling in Salem, both Weiss and Khedda graduated with full honors. Weiss, seeing how much her apprentice had grown, encouraged her to join a group of students who were off to explore and learn abroad.   With Khedda off on her own, Weiss opened a small monster hunter business, bringing her into the view of Majestic, who eventually asked her to help write techniques on the monsters she fought. Weiss accepted, and after discussing her modest fee for the contract work, began working on the project for the remainder of the 1950s.

1960s

In the 1960s the monster hunting business stopped making enough money to keep it afloat, causing Weiss to close the business. Floating around the country for a bit, she worked odd thieving jobs here and there, eventually joining the Lamplighters, a gang of thieves who went after high value corporate targets.   Eventually in the late 60s the gang was hired to steal information from an Aether Foundation black site. Traveling to the location, she found a heavily fortified bunker that was very well guarded. Weiss eventually found a way into the facility, discovering a project called MKULTRA, a CIA backed mind control project that was being used on American Citizens in order to make sleeper agents.   Making her way through the labs, she found Experiment 51-A, a living weapon made by the Aether Foundation for an unknown purpose. Gathering all the information about both projects that she could, she overloaded the site’s reactor, causing it to go into meltdown.   With the documents in hand, and her tracks covered, she used her contacts in NATO to discreetly pass the information to other governments, exposing the CIA’s operations with Aether Foundation. Her operation done, she received a mysterious note asking her for help in the Far East. Not able to pass up a call to adventure, she made her way to where the note said to go.
