Wild Hunt

A Wild Hunt is a sporadically organized event in which warriors trained by high elven lodges -- known as hunters -- are allowed to travel into the Outer Planes for the purpose of sacred combat.   Hallowed clerics in service of the Twelve Sovereigns can proclaim a Wild Hunt -- god-appointed quests that are assigned to all lodges simultaneously. Wild Hunts most often target the extraplanar homes of evil gods, such as the Beastlands of Yeenoghu. No single hunter is obligated to participate, but participation a Wild Hunt -- life-threateningly dangerous as it is -- is a tremendous honor for a hunter and a chance to not only serve the gods and reap honor for their own lodge but also to become a better warrior.   Ellondoth has not warred with other nations for millenia, making Wild Hunts the only chance an Ellondothan hunter has to participate in real fights to the death. Moreover, due to the absolute self-quarantine of the nation, Wild Hunts are also the only mechanism by which any citizen of Ellondoth can travel outside its borders.
