Riannon Griffin

Serah Riannon Griffin of the Kingsguard, Blood of the Gryphon and Avatar of Iona, was a powerful paladin of Iona and a legendary heroine that died at the age of 38. She is perhaps the most beloved and well-known public figure of Caraegwyn in recent memory.
Serah Riannon was recognized by the fabled Gryphonheart Blade at a very young age, and most people would say that greatness was her destiny. Her prodigal skill first rose to fame during her short years as a lowly squire, but it was her unmatched accomplishments as a questing paladin of Iona that saw her picked for the Kingsguard. Even in that esteemed order she quickly rose above her peers and became a celebrated hero. Riannon acted as the right hand of Ser Elegorn Aodhain, the captain of the Kinsguard, in matters both diplomatic and martial.
Serah Riannon met her untimely death the Battle of the Basalt Cliffs in East Mercia, defending the town of Basalt from a vast horde of undead. The defenders -- consisting only of a handful of knights and a small band of militia -- were utterly overrun in the battle. Basalt was saved only by divine miracle: at the moment of her death, Serah Riannon was transformed into a blazing avatar of Iona as searing wreathes of sunlight cleansed the land of all traces of undeath. Her body was never recovered, but the Gryphonheart Blade was found abandoned at the center of the battlefield.
