Leshen in Amanor | World Anvil

Leshen

Embodiments of savage and untamed nature, lords of the forest, the most terrible of wild fey

We never hunt in these woods. Never. Not even if it means the whole village starves.
Leshens are ancient and powerful forest spirits. They are towering humanoids with tree-like arms and wearing deer skulls and antlers on their heads. They are wild fey that do not bow to the archfey known as the Sidhe.   Fiercely territorial, they aggressively attack any and all non-animal intruders. Leshens wield powerful magics, are immune to mundane weapons, and can command any and all beasts of the forest. They are among the most deadly creatures of the natural world, capable of slaughtering entire bands of woodcutters, mercenaries, and even trained soldiers.   It is believed the leshen is nature's way of protecting forest wildernesses and the animals that live within them from the threat of ravenously expanding civilization. Leshens hunt with stealth and cunning, and can heal other woodland animals and summon tree-spirits or animals to serve them.   Some say that every ancient forest houses a leshen, and that to intrude upon its territory is to invite swift and certain death. In truth, leshens cannot be found in most forests. They refuse to share territory with other creatures that tend to claim "ownership" of a forest, such as powerful fey or primordial servants of nature deities.
