A great wall rings the city the palace is surrounded by a similar smaller wall. a garrison is stationed at the western gate. several mages live in the city.
Industry & Trade
Produce a lot of glass some fabric and tile food is mainly imported either from smaller nearby towns or from farther afield. the wealthy mainly have money through taxes. food may be grown at home most of the grown food outside the walls is orchards or grains due to the high water content.
Infrastructure
Large wall with multiple guard towers. two large markets with fountains and many family houses crowd the southern sides of the city. outbuildings store trade material mainly in the north east by one of the four great gates. the palace compound fills the northwest. the palace itself in the center with it's several grand courtyards smaller specialty buildings ring it and then the compounds of the tribal families before the smaller circular wall the sets the palace off from the rest of the city between the palace and the outbuildings are the slums tight paced row houses that share several small courtyards with wells in them. quran run under the city from the great cistern and sewers built on the same principle bring waste out the great stables si just outside the walls.
Assets
the main taxed grainstores sit in ornate buildings inside the palace. large markets and some stores a great number of resterants.
Guilds and Factions
there are no guilds but the court is highly fractious there is strife over coal use between the glassmakers and the tile makers. farmers often can't afford to live in large houses and the servent typically live in the slums as they don't have the time or energy to run a proper home.
History
largest oasis in the southern area. built up overtime and destroyed and rebuilt by historic cataclismic events.
Architecture
limestone with high domes and columns arched doorways and lots of mosaics in public areas fountains and such slums are square and undecorated made of rammed earth often with thatch roofs.
Geography
underground river provids year round water. tucked into a wide set of shallow hills it sits on solid limestone.
