Virinsulan

The Imperials of the East

The Virinsulans are a human race who inhabit the northern grasslands of Kvenland, in a land called Virinsul. They are a proud people, their society is based on tradition and honour, which often leads to conflict with neighbouring nations. While many citizens enjoy peace, they are a very militaristic nation, and they've often pursued conquest, which lead them to be the first of the human races to encounter the elves.

Basic Information

Anatomy

They are anthropomorphic, with two arms, two legs and an endoskeleton. They have very faint hair covering their body, with much more on their heads.

Biological Traits

Males are often larger and stronger than females; however, females are more flexible and have stronger immune systems since they bear children.

Genetics and Reproduction

They reproduce as most mammals do, with a 9 month gestation period.

Growth Rate & Stages

They reach adolescence within twelve to fourteen years and adulthood within eighteen to twenty.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They are omnivores and require a balanced diet of meat and plants.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

They have human features, with prominent eyebrows and noses, and chiselled/hard features. Their eye colour can vary a bit but tend to be brown or green.

Perception and Sensory Capabilities

Their senses are on par with most mortal races.

First names generally have little bases, besides following the phonetics of their language Virinic. However, last names are based on titles or professions.

History

When the human races diverged, the Virinsulans travelled to the northern reaches of the grasslands in Kvenland. It is unknown whether they decided to name themselves after the region, or if they named the region after the name they had already given themselves; regardless, they are strongly associated with their land. From Virinsul, they pursued many conquests, expanding their borders west and south. They even travelled across the eastern sea were they encountered their cousins the dwarves and the elves. Attempting conquest against the elves, they initiated a five-year war; however, they ultimately failed against the superior military might of the Cögálfar.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

They tend to look down on other human races, seeing them as less cultured. However, towards non-human races, they harbour a strong distrust which sometimes leads to responding in aggression.
