Shāito

The Hidden People of the Desert

The Shāito are a human race who inhabit the eastern side of the desert and south eastern reaches of the grasslands of Kvenland, in a land called Uratari. They are a mysterious race thanks to the desert and mountains that hide much of their largest cities and knowledge from the rest of the continent's inhabitants. However, they are known to be a divided people, split between the grasslands and desert. Their technology is known to be more advanced than most, and despite the power of their nation they tend to be outwardly pacifists, mostly fighting among themselves.

Basic Information

Anatomy

They are anthropomorphic, with two arms, two legs and an endoskeleton. They have very faint hair covering their body, with much more on their heads.

Biological Traits

Males are often larger and stronger than females; however, females are more flexible and have stronger immune systems since they bear children.

Genetics and Reproduction

They reproduce as most mammals do, with a 9 month gestation period.

They reach adolescence within twelve to fourteen years and adulthood within eighteen to twenty.

Dietary Needs and Habits

They are omnivores and require a balanced diet of meat and plants.

Additional Information

Facial characteristics

They have human features, with epicanthic folds, smaller noses, and flatter and border faces and cheekbones. Their eye colour doesn't vary much and is usually a dark brown.

Their senses are on par with most mortal races.

History

When the human races diverged, the Shāito travelled to the southeastern grasslands and eastern desert in Kvenland. Finding themselves split by ideology and in a land with a split biome, they called themselves the divided. However, they ultimately called the new region they had settled "balance" since they believed the divide among their people was part of the natural balance of the world. After settling they hid from the rest of the world, hiding behind the great desert and geography of the region they are often times forgotten.

Interspecies Relations and Assumptions

They care little for outsiders, human or not, most are content with living within their borders, dealing with other races only when necessary.
