Nord Tuomi

Structure

Based strongly around the traditions of family within the Varisian community, the Nord Tuomi finds its strength within its relationships. Older members of the Tuomi are often referred to as Uncle or Auntie by the younger members who in turn are known as nephews and nieces while those of a similar age can be called brothers and sisters.  Formal ranks are rarely referred to but are easily recognized by the respect paid to the owners words and actions.
Within the Tuomi, teams are logically organised around a capo (be it Capomare on a ship or Caporegime for a more fixed location) figure that has the ability to act independently if required along a set of guidelines outlined by one of the elders of the Tuomi. A capomare will never compete with another for the rights to a shipping contract although they may decide after who can get the materials to the location quicker.
Traders and craftsmen are well respected within the Tuomi with many craft-house masters holding the rank of capo or higher within the organisation. Similar is true of the Shets'Doma and rumour has it that Dwarf, Elwin and even Fae might be consider part of the organisation. Certainly if these groups do find rank amongst the Nord Tuomi the spread of the Nord's influence would extend not only across the waves but beneath the ground and into the Feywilds.

Public Agenda

The Nord maintains trade amongst the islands of Alphatia and beyond with its extensive fleet of ships.
Education is free and available to every resident of a city or town under the protection of the Tuomi.
Along with this the combined families power has given them huge political power within the Isle of Nord and they are active within the Alphatian government and within the Arte del Giudici determining both the laws of the land and their enforcement.
The Nord Tuomi is well known as a protector of the Isle and its inhabitants being one of the few Tuomi's that recognise the many career paths of its residents.  More hero's of the Isle can be found in this Tuomi's records than any other.
