Bal Tadore

The Dwarven city of Bal Tadore is beneath The Lone Peak (between Plains of the Fallen and The Bastion of Himiro). A subterranean city beneath a small mineral rich mountain. The city of Bal Tadore lines the interior of the mountain. It hangs over a large gaping pit that is a functioning strip mine.
Bal Tadore is ran by a council:
  • Elder Member
  • Military
  • Health & Education
  • City Profits
  • Heroic figure
  • Imports & Exports
  • Head Ambassador
  • Assassin's Guild
  • City Guard
  • Merchant's Guild
  • Internal Affairs
  • Research & Development
  • Investigation & Examination
  • Minister of Stone
Mining Companies:
  • Red Hand
  • Stonework Inc
  • Adamantium Mining
  • York & Co
  • Hillhead Enterprises
A representative from each Mining Company also sits on the council.

Bal Tadore has train depots and stations around Aloria that reaches many cities and civilizations. These trains are ran by combining magic and technology, a process known as Technomancy or Magitech. The trains themselves do not require steam, coal, or any minerals. They are also environmentally friendly and can achieve speeds upwards of 900 km/h (559.23 mph).   These trains can run on tracks and normal ground. Tracks can help with keeping them going where they are going but are not required. The inside of the train uses magic to keep people and belongings where they are without any type of turbulence. This is done through the liberal use of Technomancy or Magitech as some may call it.   The Dwarves, like the Lightless, have hired Artificers to help with the making of such devices. Unlike the Lightless though, the Dwarves focus on what can help provide and enhance their business and not simply to expand the knowledge or field of Technomancy, Magic, or Science as a whole.
Train Depots
Train depots are not considered public property. They are owned by the Dwarves of Bal Tadore. Although certain other civilizations have access to it, the train depots are considered private property and owned by Bal Tadore. Only those invited may use them in order to keep the trains available for business.

Structure

The city council oversees all important issues.

Public Agenda

To mine the world and see the deep unknowns.

Assets

Large amounts of gold, gems, and other valuable materials. A vast and advanced underground train system.

Demography and Population

Bal Tadore owns multiple smaller contingents throughout Aloria, such as the vast train system it operates. These stations are considered property of Bal Tadore. They also own various mining sites throughout the underground and within the Underdark.

Military

Bal Tadore believes in a strong military. All citizens are conscripted when they turn of age and are required to serve in either the military, agricultural fields, or mining companies for at least ten years.

Technological Level

Magically advanced and scientifically above average. Their vast mining cart system and train depots provide an advancement that most civilizations cannot claim. They are far more advanced than most places on Aloria, minus The Lightless Coalition.

Religion

The flames of Leynia.

Agriculture & Industry

Large mining network. Large underground farming network.

Trade & Transport

Trade is the lifeblood of Bal Tadore. It helps keep the commerce of the city in check. Large import and export networks have been setup.

Education

All Dwarves of Bal Tadore are required to learn to read and write. Basic education is required until maturity. After that, each Dwarf is required to join one of the three fields (military, agriculture, or a mining company) and from there may apply to apprentice under someone in their field.

Infrastructure

Bal Tadore has train depots and stations around Aloria that reaches many cities and civilizations, including the Bastion, near Thaedra, the Monastery of Broken Worlds, and other points in the world.   They also have an extensive underground aquaduct and vast sewage system that recycles waste in order to keep the city clean.   They also have collapsible bridges that can be utilized to prevent attacks. These bridges are found at all points of entry into Bal Tadore.

Mythology & Lore

The Dwarves of Bal Tadore believe that Leynia created all Dwarves in the heart of her fire and by the steel of Leynia's Hammer of Life. She molded them, forged them, tempered them, born them, just as the Dwarves create within the fire. In this way, it is a circle of life, tempered in the flames, and a continuation of their own creation.   They believe that the Eternal Flame that Leynia left in their care is a promise to keep all Dwarves strong and that, without it, no further Dwarves will be born within Aloria.

Divine Origins

The teachings of Leynia have been passed down from one Dwarf to another in an unending verbal telling.

Cosmological Views

While the Dwarves recognize that Leynia did not create Aloria, they believe that without Leynia there would be no Dwarves. As such, they tend to worship Leynia more than other gods. Of course though, each individual may have their own believes.

Tenets of Faith

Live strong and never surrender. Hammer thy faith and breathe thy fire.

Ethics

Strength above all. Follow your own path. Follow the laws of the land. Respect yourself. Be strong. Forged in the fire; tempered as steel.

Worship

Dwarves are free to worship as they will. Their life is their worship. Without Leynia's Eternal Flames they would not live. Live your life. That is your worship.

Priesthood

Forges of Leynia can be found in Bal Tadore and those that wish to worship Leynia may do so. There are Fire Warriors, those responsible for keeping the Eternal Flame going, but the individual worship of Leynia is up to that individual to hold.

Granted Divine Powers

Life is granted upon the Dwarves by Leynia. What more could you want? Make life your own.

Political Influence & Intrigue

The tenants of Leynia are a personal thing. It is not expected to nor does it affect business.

"Bal Tadore is strong, tempered like steel in the fire and by the blows of the hammer of life."
