The city has an network of spies and traps hidden in the surrounding forest so that any enemy force is spotted right away. The city also has several beasts and monsters tamed of caged so that they can be unleashed upon enemy forces if need be. The city also has a palisade with towers at strategic points. In case of worst case scenarios the city also possess a few powerful magic items that could change the tide of a battle.

Industry & Trade

The heart of industry and trade in Khir Huntara is the four guilds. Paid services and the trade of creatures that have been hunted are the two main aspects of the city's economy.

Guilds and Factions

There are four guilds in Khir Huntara. The guilds are:
  • The Sanguine Night- a guild dedicated to the study and death of monsters

  • The Ancient Coin-a guild comprised of treasure seekers, traders, scholars and cartographers.

  • The Iron Shackles- a guild comprised of expert bounty hunters and assassins

  • The Woodstalkers- a guild of hunters and rangers
The four guilds are powerful and each is in charge of a district of the city as well as fulfilling a certain aspect of the city such as defense, agriculture, infrastructure, trade, and law. Even though the guilds have their own district of the city the guild members are able to live or open businesses in other districts with only one rule, any business in one district can not be run by or benefit a guild in charge of another district. This is overseen by the city employees that work in the Open District and are responsible for the taxation of the guilds.

History

Khir Huntara was founded during the last days of the Silent Age by a group of refugees from Khiranian Empire. At the time the Empire was being conquered by the Minotaur nation known as the Iron Horn Dominion that was from one of the nearby islands. The refugees built the city in the ruins of a city from ages past. As they struggled to survive the four guilds were born to carry out different tasks. Over the years the refugees began to secretly thrive in their makeshift city as the war up north waged on. On the night that the Empire finally fell the leaders of the guilds and an influential refugee got together and named the city Khir Huntara, in honor of the Khiranian Empire. It was now that the city began to grow and develop rapidly as they made their presence known to most of the continent and later the world. The surviving Khiranians began to migrate in mass to Khir Huntara in the hopes that one day they might revive their mighty empire. Now the city stands as a monument to a fallen empire and is the home of four of the most skilled and powerful guilds in Aloran. Emissaries arrive in the city all the time with jobs for the four guilds all the time.

Architecture

The architecture of the Khir Huntara is interesting. A good amount of the buildings were originally the ruins that were fixed. This causes the city to look sort of like patchwork. To make it more interesting each of the five districts is unique in appearance. The Grove District has trees randomly placed throughout it as well as a couple parks with streams, ponds animals and groves of trees. The Night District utilizes the vast tunnel and ruin network built under the city. It is because of this that there is not much to see in the Night District above ground. Due the district boundaries the Sanguine Night restricts their use to the portion of the underground beneath the Night District. The Scale District is full of taverns and inns so it is often full of bustling people. The Map District utilizes the above ground as well as the underground. It is because of this that you might see unique buildings that are both above ground and underground. The majority of stores are also located in the Map District. The fifth and final district is the Open District, an area at the heart of the city where no guild is allowed to operate. It is here that most of the government buildings can be found along with a notable amount of housing. Most of the buildings in this district were once ruins.
