The Grand Temple of the Dead
The Grand Temple of the Dead sits in the southern district of Solspyd and sticks out like a not-so-sore thumb. Its towering gothic stone structure casts a vast shadow over the citizens below, covering them from the blasting heat of the sun. Great pillars surround the square and join on to the temple, holding the entrance ceiling aloft, as delicate granite carvings of Jarvan's Saints look down upon anyone who enters. The roof, made of solid bronze, glints in the sunlight with a dazzling shine, and glows with the moonlight, illuminating sleepy Solspyd.
Purpose / Function
The first Underworld Portal was discovered in what would become Solspyd before the dwarves colonised Vold, by the native Dragonborn. Once they knew what it was, and what it could do, they began guarding it, and entering to visit their dead loved ones. The duty of guarding the portal was the most important thing a Dragonborn could aspire to, as only the fiercest of warriors and the most studious of mages were given these roles. Jarvan came through the portal himself one day, and proclaimed that the Dragonborn would no longer serve only him, but serve all of the Gods. This is what started The Holy Sect.
