Alabast (ælɑbæst [Al-Uh-Bast])
Alabast is a land crowned by its cold, pine dotted, northern steppes. Central Alabast then descends into a huge, thickly wooded grassland before finally leading down to a wide open, southern swampland.
Bordered by an open ocean in the north and west, and a vast bay to the south, the only country that Alabast truly shares a border with is Tiberoa. However, Estril lies just across the bay further south.
Geography
Alabast's geographic makeup varies somewhat dramatically depending on location. The high altitudes of northern Alabast are host to thick boreal forests, the largest of which is the Shadow Pine Forest. These coniferous woodlands eventually blend into wide open steppes that culminate in the lowlands that make up the The Bastion Valley, which itself borders the raging banks of the River Rhune. Central Alabast, on the other hand is home to an ancient deciduous, broad-leaf forest known as Greenwood Fen situated in western Dorlais, notable for both it's surrounding fens and it's carr-like inner woodlands. On the eastern side of central Alabast, there sits a great freshwater lake, known as Lake Absolon (or X in Delnnish). Further south, Gebourah Swamp makes up the majority of the landscape leading down to the Al Kariq River that borders Estril.
