34/3

In the final days of First Rain, in the year 733, the high courts of Dorlais called upon The Order of The Ring of Truth to aid them in the judgement of a man suspected of being a wanted murderer. Unable to prove his guilt, the high court of Dorlais held him prisoner for a fortnight until the order arrived and was able to extract the truth from him. In a single hour, the order was able to use the ring to extract the admission of 36 murders. The next morning, the murderer now known as Gregor the Butcher was executed. His death was generally seen as a good omen, gifted by the order.

On the 34th of First Rain, in the year 733 of the 2nd Era, the civil courts of Dorlais called upon The Order of The Ring of Truth to aid them in the judgement of a man suspected of being a responsible for a long string of murders spanning nearly a decade and a half. Unable to prove his guilt, the high court of Dorlais held Gregor as their prisoner for a fortnight until Richelieu arrived and was able to extract the truth from him.   In a single hour, Richelieu and the order were able to use the ring to extricate the admission of 36 murders, 12 more than Gregor had originally been charged for. The next morning, the murderer now known as Gregor the Butcher was hung by the neck. Rumor states that Gregor was so strong that his neck didn't break when dropped and it took 9 hours for him to finally die of strangulation. The funeral that followed subsequently doubled as a celebratory festival in which people across Dorlais prayed thanks to a variety of deities and saints, particularly those whose domains and portfolios included justice, righteousness, and truthfulness. The order was also paid a tidy sum for their service and Gregor's death was seen by many as a good omen for the year to come, given graciously to the people of Dorlais by the order.
