Estril (ɛstrɪl [Ehs-Trill])

Estril is a vast country characterized by its wide desert regions in the north as well as the rugged terrain of its southern peninsulas. The northern desert stretches from the western border to the eastern boarder, only gently broken up by sparse badlands, a large mass of driven dunes, and a distribution of spice fields located near the country's center. Estril's lower peninsulas are much more hospitable due to moisture giving-monsoon winds from the southeast and southwest, however, featuring relatively fertile fields and arid forestation, which fade into generally tropical coasts.   In the west, Estril is bordered by the Al Kariq Bay, while the (Name) River in the east serves to separate the country from its closest neighbor, Bolaria. Both waterways empty into the Tethyc Ocean which itself makes up most of Estril's southern shoreline, alongside the Bay of Estril (Rename?). In the north, the country is crowned by the vast Ulmuluk Raba Mountain Range, known as the King's Crown Mountain Range in Common tongue, its placement creating the rain shadow responsible for the Estrelian Desert's existence.

Geography

Estrils' main geographic features are its mountainous regions, its huge peninsulas, and its expansive desert. The Ulmuluk Raba Mountain Range is home to hardy vegetation like sage shrubs and perennial yuccas, as well as other forms of life that find refuge high above the desert sands. A lone fresh water lake, called (X), can be found at the foot of the range as well, providing life-giving water to all manner of creatures in the area. The slopes of the mountains eventually give way to the The Great Estrelian Desert, the vastness of which conceals, among a number of other secrets, a collection of valuable spice fields close in Central Estril. The desert is pinched between a band of badlands at its center, and it gradually fades into more tenable prairies and savannas as one travels further south. Intermixed with these grasslands are collections of arid, deciduous forests that spread well into the northern reaches of the country's southern peninsulas. These surprisingly thick forests eventually break into tropical coastline in nearly every direction, save north, as khairs, arunjas, and banyans become coastal plum trees and palms of all sorts.   While it makes up a majority of Estril's southern shore, the Tethyc Ocean also plays host to several large islands like Wurabe or Mali, the latter of which gates the entrance to the Bay of Estril (Rename?). Islands like these sport the same general geography as the rest of Estril's coastal regions, however they often sport unique aberrations in the biodiversity there.
