The Hunting Lodge

The Hunting Lodge   Located in the heart of Steve this building was once the headquarters of an ancient cult leader. The Heroes of Steve happened upon this building during their quest to eradicate the cult. They claimed it as their own after freeing the slaves from their former masters. It is now the Mayor's Headquarters and Town Hall.   The building is two stories tall with a small basement under the kitchen. The entranceway acts as a decompression zone from the outside world. Now fitted with welcoming tapestries and cloak racks, if you look carefully you can see the arrow slits once used as protection from outsiders. The foyer is open and airy. The main stairs, made from an ancient oak, split in both directions to form the upper balconies and hallways. To the left of the stairs, the West Wing is comprised of multiple studies and offices. To the right, the East Wing is one single Library featuring books acquired from all of The Heroes of Steve's adventures. Beyond the stairs are the kitchens and the back entrance.   The upper-level houses several rooms and The Trophy Room once adorned with hunting trophies now holds the heads and bones of various foes The Heroes of Steve have conquered. Just don't touch the tapestries.

Purpose / Function

The original purpose of The Hunting Lodge was to be the headquarters of a high ranking cult member. It also acted as a resting spot before the Cloud Giant's flying castle. It was far from a tourist attraction and housed several rooms filled with hunting trophies, resources stolen from nearby towns, and sometimes even prisoners.   It now serves as a Town Hall at Steve. Many town meetings are held here. It also acts as a welcome center as any new travelers are directed here to speak with one of the Seven.

Alterations

While the outside of the building remains largely unchanged, the inside has been heavily altered.   The lobby stairs were rebuilt using wood from the nearby oak trees as the old stairs were heavily damaged by combat. The trophy rooms have been redecorated with trophies brought back from adventures by The Heroes of Steve. The East Wing, both first and second floor, has been turned into one large room housing almost 10,000 different books and scrolls. Most of these books and scrolls were obtained by The Heroes of Steve, but some have been donated. This now serves as a public library. The only other notable change was made to the basement. A small portion used to be for keeping prisoners, it has now been furnished with extra storage units for jarred foods.
