Malum ((Mah-ell-lum))

Description:

Though not officially a city, it's large enough to be considered one. This is the capital for the Heralds of the Damned, being its best military base and hosting only the strongest of the Heralds of the Damned forces. Though the title of strongest and largest belongs to the one residing up in Dead Lands / Northern Mesica, which holds the rest of their military might (IE their mass of soldiers, their mass produced weapons, etc). Massive rock formations rise out of the desert sands like titan monoliths, with the base being set in the midst of them, the peaks form an almost wall-like structure that emcompasses almost all the base, with the Barracks hanging over the a part of the Garage due to it being wedged between the cliffs. It's an almost futuristic style, with advanced technology and architecture. There's three towers, one for each of the demon leaders (Ikumonos, Tregthar, and Uscilis), and serving as their personal chambers/office.

Sub Areas:

The most important areas of Malum worth of note.   Ikumonos's Tower:
Belonging to Ikumonos, and somewhat lived in. Also holds the record for the most broken windows.
Like the other two towers, this room is circular, with gray metal walls, a large circular window overlooking the inside of Malum. Right in front of the window is a glass desk that sits with a comfy, swiveling office chair. A monitor usually sits on the desk, as well as various documents and papers being a mess. The rest of the room is bare, due to Ikumonos constantly destroying it out of anger. There are hooks on the right side of the desk on the wall, which Ikumonos will use to store his double-handed warhammer, yet their quite bent from constant abuse.   Tregthar's Tower:
Belonging to Tregthar, and has lots of deep claw marks in the walls from Tregthar attack the wall for various reasons.
Like the other two towers, this room is circular, with gray metal walls, a large circular window overlooking the inside of Malum. Right in front of the window is a glass desk that sits with a comfy, swiveling office chair. A monitor usually sits on the desk, as well as various documents and papers being a mess. The room is only slightly decorated due to Tregthar preffering to spend her time climbing the ranks rather than decorating her room with flowers and ribbons. In the corner is a special device that Tregthar uses in which he places his double-bladed scythe and it will hover a few inches in the air, waiting its next usage.   Uscilis's Tower:
Belonging to Uscilis, and those who even enter the bottom-floor of the tower without permission will be punished with the most torturous death. Like the other two towers, this room is circular, with gray metal walls, a large circular window overlooking the inside of Malum. Right in front of the window is l low-sitting mahogany desk, with comfy cushions and such serving  for seating behind it. On the polished wooden surface are a variety of advanced gadgets that Uscilis uses to keep himself updated on current situations. He spends most of his time within this room, with him meditating, strategizing, or other such things. There's also a few incense candles that burn on the corner of the desk, filling the entire room with an acrid-smelling smoke. The walls are covered in a variety of artworks and trophies, with the floors being covered in luxurious carpets.   Front Entry and Barracks:
The Front Entry is located at the bottom of one of the cliffs, being a two-foot thick steel door that can retract into the walls to give access to metal-angled hallway. If the door is sealed, it can withstand constant abuse and explosions, making it nigh-impregnable. Within the hallway are usually dozens of stationed soldiers, as well as even more blast doors that can close and vents that can flood the sealed off hallway with poisonous gas. The outside of the Front Entry is colored and designed to match the surrounding rock, making it extremely hard to spot.
The barracks (and most of the base) are held in a squared-building that's positioned between four different cliffs to hang hundreds of feet over the rocky ground below. The whole structure is made of steel, with fluorescent lights and fiberglass windows. There's a meager cafeteria, dorms, and so on, all on different floors as the structure rises up dozens of stories. Five hallways shoot off from the barracks, with three going from the sides and two from the corners of the barracks on the first floor (which is a lobby-like room designed to have even more unknown defenses inside) with one extending from one of the corners. The northeastern hallway leads to the Front Entry, the southern leads to Uscilis's Tower, the western to Tregthar's Tower, the eastern to Ikumonos's Tower, and the northwestern to the Hanger and Garage.    Garage/Hanger:
Located on the desert floor at the base of the rocky cliffs within a small valley, hidden almost completely from the outside. A particularly long portion of the valley is used for a runway for aircraft, with the Hangar being located right next to it. The Garage is located closer to the rest of the compound, being partially underneath the Barracks, and requires fluorescent lights to be on at all times due to the extreme shadow cast by the hanging structure. Aircraft simply lave by climbing up through the air and slipping through two peaks standing near the end of runway. And ground vehicles leave through another hidden door (that can only be opened from the inside) that leads to the open sands outside Malum via a long tunnel that runs to the west, right underneath Ikumonos's Tower.

History:

Only a few rogue demons lived in the cliffs, having taken refuge right after the Eternal Battle. They slowly formed it, carving out (by hand) the tunnels and building a small base. They lived in complete isolation, untouched till the Central Mesica where the main Homo Saurus / Demons group travelled down and took control of the small base, designating it as an official base of operations for the Homo Saurus / Demons. Over the years the base grew more and more, especially once Magna Arbor fell from the sky and the Homo Saurus / Demons were defeated at the end of the Desolation Trials. From there the base became the capitol for the Homo Saurus / Demons, who at the time became the Heralds of the Damned. They operated all of their mischief and crimes from Malum from then on, remaining secret of their location.

Rumors:

Though the gates and most of the compound are hidden within the rock, the three towers rise up. Due to the extreme heat of the desert and mirages, the towers from a distance, to weary and dehydrated individuals, will appear like dark giants watching as the hopeless travelers slowly die and become corpses.   Also due to the immense activity of the demons, rumors circulate within Khalas of Malum as where souls lost in the desert are taken and imprisoned, damned to eternal torment for their foolishness. This is only partially correct, as individuals who manage to get close enough (or even find) Malum, will sometimes be taken in before being experimented on, tortured for fun, or so on.

Dehydration:

Due to it being in the desert, a lack of water would seem like an immense problem, but the Heralds of the Damned have managed to build a system where they draw water from the nearby canyon that has water running through it in enough volume to supply Malum. They drink as is, often resulting in any other races than Homo Saurus / Demons stationed there to get sick from it being unclean.
