Personal history
Leafman spent only four years of his childhood in The Hylands before he and three of his siblings were sent to Earth, as a measure of protection from King Julen Andromeda who wished to conquer The Hylands.
Leafman enjoyed the U.S. well enough, but he always felt out-of-place somehow. He even felt overlooked by Sarabrina and Elk, and Saria was really his only friend. They'd take long walks through the forest behind their house, along with their foster parents' Boxer: Codi. While Saria enjoyed drawing the places they walked, Leafman preferred to write about them. He never showed his poems, descriptions, or songs to anyone else--not even Saria.
When the Elfbournes returned to The Hylands in 2000, Leafman adjusted slowly. He accepted the place almost immediately, but he still didn't feel acknowledged by his older siblings or his father. Even Saria drifted away, as she embraced the father and older sister-- Twilight--she'd never known. Due to his pain, Leafman made choices he shouldn't have and ended up hurting those he cared about.
Education
On Earth, he attended public school. In The Hylands, he was taught privately, taking classes in archery, diplomacy, politics, Severen, etc. He also took a songwriting class, though he continued trying to hide his interest from his family. His songwriting class was where he did the most healing.

Motivation
He's primarily motivated by the fear of being ignored or overlooked, and a desire for the attention of his family. When he doesn't get that attention, his pain drives him to lash out.

Family Ties
Leafman feels overlooked by his father, Lorcan, and worries that he has less to offer than his siblings. He tries to act tougher around Lorcan and hide his interest in poetry.
He doesn't know quite what to make of his mother, Valda. He finds her distant and closed off and can relate to that in a way, but it makes it hard for him to know how to get through those walls and build a relationship with her.
Leafman admires Elk a great deal, but feels like he'll never measure up to his older brother and that he has to be exactly like Elk to be noticed. He's often envious of his brother, which leads to acting out against Elk and straining their relationship.
His relationship with Sarabrina is minimal. They've never especially connected with each other, and Leafman has always been too hung up on gaining Elk's approval to bother working to fix it.
Saria is the one sibling Leafman really cares about and has a good relationship with. He's always felt acknowledged by her more than the older siblings, and he greatly enjoys the time they spend together.
Leafman is bitter toward Twilight for supposedly stealing Saria from him, when she was never a part of their family before. Since he comes to these feelings very shortly after meeting her, he has trouble seeing any of her positive qualities for a long time.

He's built thick walls and doesn't let people through them easily, but he barely even realizes it. He longs to connect with people, but he fears being vulnerable with people and gets in his own way. He pushes people away and doesn't make an effort to reach out, but his perception of things is so skewed that he blames everyone else for it and believes they hate him and aren't interested in getting to know him. When they do make an effort to push against the walls, he gets defensive. He only lets people in when it's on his own terms.
He's often sullen and unpleasant to be around. When he finally decides to let people in, though, he's eloquent, good at showing interest in others, and fun to be around.
Hobbies & Pets
Shortly after arriving in The Hylands, he gets a dapple grey stallion named Maeror.
Leafman enjoys writing poetry, going on walks or rides through the forest, skateboarding, songwriting, and singing. After going home, he also discovers he likes gardening and blacksmithing.
Relationships
History
Leafman despises Twilight almost from the time they meet, and Twilight struggles to figure out what he has against her and how to fix their relationship. It takes several months for them to smooth out their relationship, and in the meantime Twilight feels terrible that she can't connect with her little brother.
