The Sonoran Guard

The Sonoran Guard is the primary means of protection within the territories of the Kingdom of Sonora, serving as a police force, constabulary, and standing army altogether. It comprises the land force army, the small Sonoran navy, and the various other orders under its command or employ. They are recognized by their silver armor and Sonoran falcon heraldry, their border decorations being the distinguishing mark between each sub-order.

Structure

• Argent Commander: The Argent Commander is the ruler of the whole guard, meant to keep control and command and to report to the king and queen. They are often charged with protecting and seeing to the capital city of Alsace as well as working with the Sonoran Royal Guard to protect the family and the royals themselves. The current Argent Commander is the aasimar Brisaeus Stormsglaive.
• The Four Captains: The Four Captains are the second rank below the Commander, each designated their own separate legion and given different parcels of land to oversee and command. The current Four Captains are: the human Seres "The Mistral Blade" Hook-Albairn, the minotaur Selaryn "The Cavalry In One" Voz, the elf Aldien "The Glower" Rakes, and Brigitte "Smilemallet" Trennori.
• Three Lieutenants: Each captain has three lieutenants that they oversee, each commanding a piece of the given land the captain has been charged with.
• Watchers: Sonoran watchers are the scouts, watchmen, and spies working for the Guard. They often wear shrouds and leather armor of deep Sonoran blue.
• Keepers: Keepers are charged with watching over Peacers of a given region, usually a town or a parcel of land. They are the ones who are reported to within specific regions, and report to the Lieutenants when the higher-ups need to be made aware of certain things.
• Peacers: This is the lowest rank of the Sonoran Guard, working as outpost guards or scouts who are designated to keep the peace under their Keepers.

There also is a specialized section of Sonoran warriors who use magic, listed below:

• Silverseers: Silverseers work as metaphorical spies and scouts for the kingdom, seeing to the truths of people's claims by scrying, sending, and investigating other people's claims. They can root out cheats, spy on enemy legions, and sense disaster well before it is underway.
• Warmages: Warmages comprise of the martial and evocative magic warriors of the guard, usually made to accompany generals or others in times of war and chaos. 
• Spellwardens: Masters of protective and abjuration magic, Spellwardens are masters of defense and protectors 
• Hexrooks: Hexrooks serve the guard as illusionists and enchanters, acting as scouts, spies, and recorders who infiltrate and investigate all manner of criminal activity. They are master interrogators and manipulators who place themselves in dark-aligned groups such as cults and eventually report to the guard, allowing them to come down upon the group.

Culture

• Serve & Protect: The Guard exists to protect the common people from those who would seek to do harm to them. They work to hunt down murders, stop robberies, and root out dark practitioners or masterminds.

Assets

Every Sonoran guard is outfitted with a mace for non-lethal combat, a sword for lethal combat, a small shield, moderate leather or breastplate armor, and a pack for keeping their belongings. Watchers are often outfitted with longbows and short bows and arrows, as well as nets and binoculars.

History

The Sonora Guard was formed when the Sonoran's first took power after the death of the last Urth'haile king, being mostly migrated over from the Urth'haile Guard and comprising of the same members. It wasn't until King Azran Sonora's sister, Jordana took control as Argent Commander that the abusive and oppressive workers began to be sniffed out, and the Guard was filled with those who truly wished to do the right thing and protect the people rather than oppress them.
