The Highfists are the last of the major Dwarf clans in the Katiland Range of the Cutting Mountains. Like most of the Katiland clans of the Kephic Empire the Highfists preferred building their fortress homes within their mountains, as opposed to sweeping high castles on mountainsides like those in the central Cutting Mountains. They, like their lost cousin clans, were the front lines in the wars with the Juhl'are in ages past, and proud of it. As are the eastern clans of the mountains, with high kings of the Empire praising the honor of the clans of old. Even in the modern day, most dwarves of the Empire have a reverence of the Highfist. The names of those fallen Katiland clans are still spoken throughout the Empire, but of all of them the Highfists ring highest. 'Fight like a Highfist' is a common saying among them.

The clan's mountain is Mount Glincore of the southern Katilands, and it has been so since time immemorial. The mountain, said to once house six Highclan cities in its core, now only holds one, Isifunda. The Highfists refuse to tell outsiders it location. Out of Mount Glencore the Highfist patrol, and guard the surrounding mountains, as far as Mount Lunghi to their west, and east to the edge of the range as it descends into the Awaran. They see it as their sacred duty to maintain the ancient borders of the Kephic Empire, even as the Empire and their own numbers decline.

The many wars their ancestors waged against dark elves and Lizardfolk have made these dwarves intolerant to the people, but most others they welcome. At least into some of their surface outposts. There is a hesitance to trust Elf, but they are on friendly terms with Human of the mountains, trading and exchanging information freely. Of all the dwarven clans and nations, the Highfist hate Dragon more than all others. They have a long history of fighting the Red Dragon minons out of Ancient Siduum, and in the modern day those of the Cult of Eternity out of Eshir Azzin. Of the wars with dark elves, lizardfolk and dragons, it is the dragons and their minons that have taken the biggest toll on the Highfist and they do not easily forget this fact.

Highfist are tall for dwarves, most averaging a minimum of five feet, though never above five feet five inches. The females of the clan seem to have a height advantage over their males, often only by an inch or two, but still an uncommon trait for their people. They keep their hair long and combed back, with a very interesting trait of men having nearly exclusive dark brown or black hair, while the women will nearly always grown browns and red hairs. The Highfist have a long tradition of bright colorful garments, with an even longer tradition of replaces old pieces of clothing and armor with new pieces with the old piece is damaged or lost. This has given a patchwork appearance to the Highfist style that some might look down on. The Highfists see this style as a symbol of resilience, ingenuity, and most of all history, as every dwarf can give a tale of every piece they wear.

Alignment: Like most dwarves' society, traditions are a strong part of life, leaning most Highfist towards a lawful alignment.

Age: Highfists live an average 300 year lifespan.

Size: (Medium) Highfists are a tall, often thin for dwarves, 5ft is a common height, with 5ft 5in being the upper end of that. Women in their culture can often be an inch or two taller than the men.

Language: All Highfists speak Dwarvish, with most learning Undercommon or the Common Tongue as well, due to their patrols through the mountains, above and below.
