Note: this article is a work in progress.
Gnomerado is a dangerous place. Despite its general purpose to bring variety and fun into the visiting gnomes' lives, many of its attractions are rather unhealthy to use. Its law department was really busy for a long time to fend off complaints from injured or dead gnomes' families. The focal point of the legal team finally moved to Gnomerado's intellectual property and merchandise when Laz-R-Us was established: the treatment and healing center of the amusement park.

Treatment

Scrapes and other small wounds are treated with usual means like tinctures, herbs and bandages. Gnomes with severe injuries are carried to the nearby pond and slowly dropped into the mud until only their face sticks out. They have to stay in there for several hours only to rise completely renewed. Even heavy injuries like broken bones are completely gone.   GM info / spoilers.

Architecture

Laz-R-Us consists of two long wooden buildings for minor treatments and a small, muddy pond nearby.

History

Whacker Tomsen and his team found out about the healing effect of the pond by accident. A group of visiting gnomes was having fun riding the Wild Boar Carts and racing along the roads of Gnomerado. Then it happened: two carts collided frontally at full speed. The sickening sound of breaking bones and a flying gnome filled the air. The gnome was in joy of seeing Gnomerado from above and also in pain from the broken bones and landed head first in the mud with a thud.

Plot Hooks

24 - An important contact of the party is really sick and seemingly no one can help them, and they only have 24 hours left to live if untreated. One way to cure them would be to find out about Laz-R-Us and getting them a bath in the mud. That would include steps like: uncover the secret that this healing spot in Gnomerado exists, make everyone a gnome (only gnomes are allowed to enter, ever!), travel to Gnomerado, have the contact have visibly bad wounds and finally get them treated with a bud bath. This should be a timed, fast-paced plot, with every step being an "aaaalmost missed" thingers.

Kaputt - Oh noes, the mud is not working anymore! The party needs to find out why. A spirit has found this location and its renewing energy and is now bathing in the mud in the hopes to get revived (which doesn't work because the spirit drove Amelíe away). Some negotiation or banishment is required to get rid of the spirit. After that, the pixie Amelíe will come back, who fled to the eastern waterside of Gnomerado for the time being. If the party is talking to her at some time, she will insist to stay in hiding, because she is afraid of what ideas the gnomes might come up with.

Hehe, I see why this is useful for avoiding lawsuits. :) And the story of the accidental discovery is great - I love the wording and the gnome enjoying the view from above. Gotta look at the bright side, huh?

Gnomerado might be one of the greatest names I've ever encounter, fantastic stuff :D

Nice article :D I don't imagine that having some miracle mud nearby will really help with the safety procedures of the park...

I like the healing muds trick. It takes me back to Han Solo in carbonite. Does the mud lose it's properties after healing? It would make for a nice souvenir if it could be molded into a statue/cart/flying gnome, etc.

I have not uncovered the actual cause for the healing yet, but I have two ideas. And the mud itself has most probably nothing to do with it. :)

I died reading that title, it was hilarious! Play on words and a wink to the modern world at that! I love medical anomalies that are discovered by accident (penicillin), so I am intrigued by the pond! Wonderful work.

"Fantasy is escapist, and that is its glory. If a soldier is imprisoned by the enemy, don't we consider it his duty to escape? ... If we value the freedom of mind and soul, if we're partisans of liberty, then it's our plain duty to escape, and to take as many people with us as we can!" —J.R.R. Tolkien

Glad you like the title too. :D I thought about several things when making it... first there is Lazarus from the bible who gets revived after being dead a couple of days, then there is the big bad evil guy Ra's al Ghul from Batman, where a restoration in some kind of mud happens in one episode, and sure the something-r-us naming... (it also sounds a little bit like "Lads are us!", a name gnomes would approve). :D

10/10 I would've loved a Ra's al Ghul reference as well!
