Dûrgrimst Az Sweldn rak Anhûin

Az Sweldn rak Anhûin, or The Tears of Anhûin, is a dwarf clan devoted to mourning & avenging the deaths of their former Grimstcarvlorss, Anhûin, and the vast majority of their clan who died in The Fall.

Attir

Long purple veils covered their faces and draped over their shoulders, like mail coifs. They wear these to remind themselves of their loss and their desire for revenge.

Public Agenda

The ultimate goal of this clan is to rid the world of The Dragon Riders and their supporters as they believe that they are all responsible for their tragic history.
Even thought the members of this clan are being shunned, they were still included in the in the reworking of the spell that binds dragons to the races of Alagaësia. While many of Az Sweldn rak Anhûin were shunning Vermûnd for his mistreatment of a guest - even if that guest was a Dragon Rider - the vast majority of the clan view this forced fusing as a perversion and rallied behind Vermûnd. Since the joining they have actively sought a way to rid themselves of it.

History

Before the Riders’ fall, they were among the oldest, richest families of the dwarf kingdom. Their doom was sealed, though, by two mistakes: they lived on the western edge of the Beor Mountains, and they volunteered their greatest warriors in Vrael’s service.

Galbatorix and his ever-cursed Forsworn slaughtered them in the city of Urû'baen. Then they flew on the Beor Mountains, killing many. Of this clan, only Grimstcarvlorss Anhûin and her guards survived. Anhûin soon died of grief, and her men took the name Az Sweldn rak Anhûin, The Tears of Anhûin. They covered their faces to remind themselves of their loss and their desire for revenge.
They rebuilt the clan over the decades, waiting and hunting for recompense.

Foreign Relations

Hate for the Riders

Eragon Shadeslayer encountered Az Sweldn rak Anhûin in Tarnag. The clan, furious that Hrothgar had adopted Eragon into Dûrgrimst Ingeitum, declared themselves Eragon's blood enemies, throwing a barzûlwonnû at him.

In Tronjheim

After the Battle of The Burning Plains, Eragon again encountered Az Sweldn rak Anhûin under Tronjheim. The clan sent 7 assassins to murder Eragon and his 4 dwarven guards. Although outnumbered, Eragon and his guards fought bravely. They managed to kill all the assassins, losing Kvîstor, one of Eragon's guards, as well as sustaining minor injuries.

Banishment

Orik proved to the other clans that Az Sweldn rak Anhûin had tried to murder Eragon using magicians and traced each dagger the assassins held back to the dwarven city of Dalgon. Vermûnd was also revealed to have personally ordered the attack. The clan was banished from dwarven society until they replaced Vermûnd, whom was permanently banished.

Agriculture & Industry

The main industry of this clan is textiles. This means that all members are at least proficient in tools used for cobbling and weaving. They are highly skilled at working silks and creating lace.
Of course, like all dwarven clans they can run independently, with their own farmers, herds and warriors but their main source of wealth and trade was always with the working of fabrics.

Trade & Transport

As they can no longer sell their goods to the other dwarven clans, they trade with The Wandering Tribes who's lords and warlords are always interested in fine silks and embroidered pieces.
