Carab Berry

The carab berry is most often found in marshes and wooded areas with high levels of rainfall on Phicen. They're native to the dawnward coast and are the most abundant in The Most Serene Republic of Allathoné, but are cultivated all across the continent.
Growing on shrubs that range from 3-5 feet (1-1.5m) in height, ripe carab berries are a bright golden yellow and have a slightly flattened orb shape, rarely measuring more than an inch in diameter, and grow in small clusters. The plant, as well as tea and honey made from it, are know for their medicinal properties. The honey in particular is a well known export from Lyfalorian, and studies have shown it to have antimicrobial and antibacterial properties that can help with the treatment of stomach ulcers, minor burns, and sore throats caused by inflammation.
The berry itself has a very tart taste and isn't often eaten by itself, but is made into various other products such as jam, extract, or dried to make tea.
