Wildlings
Wildlings are sentient, eladrinate Fae who typically form the social core of the faewold and the Archfae's court. Some are inborn, created of the World itself, while others are incomers, transformed by the world after entering it as mortals. The descendents of these incomers inherit their acquired traits, but are always considered incomers; it is the origin that count.
The Danaan are, when present, the aristocracy of the wolds. They are also called the first come, for while they are incomers, their transformation occurs at the beginning of a tamed realm. Danaan are created when mortals are caught in a wold as it is reshaped from its untamed form by the claim of an ascendant archfae. Their exact form varies greatly, always matching the nature of the realm, and they are invested with powers mirroring - in a smaller way - those of the ruling archfae.
Beastfolk are either inborn, or else Yael incomers; in the latter instance, the influence of the faewold's primal atmosphere brings out more of the animal nature of the beast part of their bodies. In addition to Centaurs, Pashak, Greatfolk and the like, fae beastkin may mingle the eladinate form with that of dogs, swine and hares. Closely related, the Shifters' primal nature is less immediately obvious, but can be brought to the fore in a process called the shift, the surge, or similar. Most shifters are incomers, immigrants whose inner beast is brought out by the faewold.
Nymphs and Satyrs are fae bound to the 'natural' forces present or established in the world. They are inborn fae, their Existence pre-dating the taming of the mold, although the process of claiming shapes them to the domain's character. Nymphs are humanoid incarnations of natural elements - stone, water (salt or fresh), clouds and the Woldgrowth, especially still-living trees. Satyrs are similar, but bound to animal life. Nymphs appear as human or elven forms, with their flesh made from their element. They always live around a substantial bodies of the element: forests for a dryad (wood nymph), rivers for neiriad and so on. Satyrs have a humanoid form with animal legs and other animalesque features, although usually not so much as the beast folk. They prefer to live in natural environments, especially those frequented by nymphs.
Darklings are inborn fae spawned from shade. They are dark and slender eladrinate beings with an affinity for the darkness. While often mistrusted, they are not associated with the Grim Plain, or at least not naturally so. Generations of suspicion have led many darkling colonies to seek association with dark powers.
Changeling is a catch-all term for various types of shapeshifter. Whether inborn or incomer, Changelings are eerily non-descript in their natural form, but usually choose to live in a succession of other eladrinate appearances. They owe their nature to a connection with the malleable foundations of the faeword.
