Primal Wild

The basal energies of the Elemental Planes flow into the Primal Wild, a realm of teeming life and boundless vitality. In form, the plane is a reflection of the Aiaosion landscape, but wilder. Cities are camps, trees are vast, grasslands verdant. The Wild is home to the creatures known as the Fae, a group which includes both larger and fiercer versions of Aiaosian creatures, and nature spirits such as satyrs, dryads and sprites.   The Wild is a dangerous place for mortals, both because of the deadly plants, animals and people, and because the Wild was never made subject to time in the same way as Aiaos. Travel in the Primal Wild takes an unpredictable amount of time in the World, and there are also places where the corruption of the Void has mingled with the basal reality of the wild to create places of dark and malevolent decay.   There is more to the Primal Wild than just the surface, however. The plane is convoluted, folded and wrinkled, so that vast, unseen areas can be accessed through certain ritual actions or seemingly blank doorways. These 'Faewolds' are isolated from the rules of Existence, and many have their own physical and metaphysical rules. Some faewolds are occupied by powerful individuals known as Archfae, who have their ability to manipulate the rules of the wolds to their own ends. Others become infected by Void energies and fester, transforming into so-called nightmare cysts.   In certain places, where primal energies are strongest, the walls between Aiaos and the Wild grow thin, creating gates through which it is possible to simply step into one world from the other. A handful of these open directly into one of the deepest faewolds. Druidic circles often hold such places to be sacred, and use them to commune with the sports of nature. When a gate opens into a cyst, monsters may come forth, and such gates usually attract either sinister cults, or dedicated guardians.
