Faewolds
The Faewolds are pocket realms, convolutions in the planar fabric of the Primal Wild. The basal energy that should flow into Aiaos becomes trapped in these folds and they become almost bloated with creative potential. In their 'natural' state, faewolds tend to be wild, overgrown, and archetypically red in tooth and claw. They also become crucibles for a form of life that exists as almost a parody of Worldly life. Plants that walk, animals that talk; tiny winged humanoids or elfin figures of great stature and impossible beauty.
These creatures are known as the fae, fey or fair folk, and like the denizens of the Elemental Planes they form a complete ecosystem within each wold. Some of the fae are sentient, and many possess intrinsic or learned magical power. The strongest of all these creatures, known as Archfae, have the capacity to sieze control of a faewold's very nature and shape it according to their will.
Once it falls under such control, a faewold is known as a fae or faerie realm, domain or estate. It transforms from a wild place, an unguided font of life, to a phantasmagorical reflection of the archfae's inner desires and drives, governed by its sovereign's Woldlaw. The archfae ruler of a fae realm can fashion anything that they desire with a thought, but such things are pure phantasm and do not persist beyond the bounds of the wold. This does not mean that there is no value in the treasures of a faewold, however. The flora and fauna have true existence, and even if not so appetising as they seem, faerie food gives sustenance.
While objects willed wholecloth into being are mere phantom baubles beyond the borders of the realm, the archfae may shape their domain such that it produces raw materials from earth, plant and animal life. Because these take time to form and effort to extract and work, they can be fashioned into real treasures. Such things have a distinct style, sinuous and smooth, with no straight tones, angles or seams, and are prized by certain collectors, in Aiaos, the Grim Plain and The Abyss.
