Horde

As the Orcs of the Legions expanded the dominion of the Dark Lords, the populations of their conquered territories became either subjugated allies, or were outright enslaved by the Legions. Each of these populations had previously had a warrior culture, and these cultures were reshaped and encouraged to form an auxiliary force to support the Legions. The most notable constituents of the Horde, in terms of numbers, were the Goblinoids of Moraea, but it also contained Humans, Giant-Kin, Lizardfolk and more. The earliest auxilliary units operated under the supervision of whichever Legion they were attached to, but as the territory of the Dark Lords and the size of the Horde grew, they were given into the authority of the 6th Legion. Under the authority of the Lash of the Hordes, the auxilliaries were reshaped.
The Horde was organised into battalions, each comprising a number of divisions; the smallest early battalions had five, the largest in the heyday of the Legions had as many was twenty. Each battalion operated under the command of a maniple of the 6th Legion. The precise organisation of these divisions varied wildly, being patterned on the original composition of the battalion’s constituent culture or cultures. Moraean Goblins were ordered into divisions of up to one thousand infantry, Hobgoblin cavalry and Human infantry in divisions of up to five hundred, Bugbear ambusher divisions would have about fifty fighting members, while artillery crews or the mountain ogre siege divisions would be no more than ten-to-fifteen strong.
Over time, the hobgoblins, whose early martial culture was highly organised and had a great influence on the overall organisation of the Horde, became singularly associated with the force, and many of them assumed officer positions, even in non-hobgoblin divisions. When the Legions collapsed after The Uprising, the Horde occupied southern Moraea and under hobgoblin leadership created the Domain of War.
