Empty Tomb

Empty Tomb is the capital city of the Howling Plains, and arguably the spiritual centre of the Darklands. From the great citadel at its heart, the city spreads out on three sides, with only the steep, eastern slopes leading to the edge of the Black Desert unoccupied.
The citadel is almost a city within a city, a triangular plot surrounded by high walls, anchored by the three keeps and surrounding the Great Ossuary and the Heart of All. The western keep of the citadel is the Bastion, the centre of civil and military power in the Plain and seat of the Grey Queen of Howling Plains. The southern keep is the House of Perdition, central stronghold of the Orders of Purity. Finally, the northern keep is the Silver Hall, home of the Woodcutters.
The Great Ossuary is the foremost temple of the Darklands, a great shrine to the ancestors fashioned from the bones of those slain by the Dark Lords during the uprising, and home to the Spirit Masters, speakers to the ancestors who form a bridge between the orcs, their ancestors and the wider spiritual ecosystem of the Dark Lands. Beneath the Ossuary lies the Iron Archive, a repository of orcish history and forbidden lore.
The Heart of All is a vast monument of grey stone, roughly triangular in plan, more than five hundred feet high and between twenty and thirty feet on a side. Its surface is engraved with the names of fallen orcs. Any name can be inscribed there, if the writer can find a free space and reach it without disturbing the names below. The names of the orcs who slew the Dark Lords with the Godkillers are engraved in the upper surface, and now all but erased by wind and time. These names are so placed to do honour to them, without elevating their memories above the others who fought and died to make the race free.
