Cirok-jat
Cirok-jat, or the murmuring forest, is an expanse of sub-tropical forest south of the Firestone Mountains of Suto. Formerly part of the empire of Anur-tek, it was the home of the bulk of the Bofyrn population and the Inan-bofyr (warrior's hall - Anurin uses the same word for the bofyrn lineage and the warrior profession,) the great military academy and central garrison of the Anur-tekan military.
Bofyr-ket is the capital of the region and holds many claims to uniqueness. It is the largest Bofyrn city on Aiaos, and boasts the largest walled area and the longest defensive wall in Suto. The reason for these imposing fortifications is that Bofyr-ket lies in the foothills of the Firestone Peaks, only a short distance - as the crow flies - from the Fire Nests; Abur-ket that was. Thanks to the magma beneath its foundations and a number of Gondish arcane mills, the city also enjoys some of the most impressive foundries and armouries in the metal-poor continent.
Bofyr-ket is the seat of the Consulate Martial, Bofyr-tek's military administration. The Consulate runs the region as a military and logistical interest, with the sole and stated aim of preventing the spread of the Pyranoi. Many outside the Consulate's power structure question the necessity of their more draconian policies, but occasional Pyranic raids leave few doubting the need for vigilance and preparedness.
Cirok-jat continues across the Iss, but gives way to the terrace farms of the coastal Pirate Principalities to the south and beyond the Inn. When Anur-ket fell, a force set to aid the city was caught up in a devastating battle, allowing the Captains of the Coast to capture the southern forest. The city of Issihn, at the confluence of the tributaries and site of Inan-bofyr, became the anchor of a line that could not be crossed, the stronghold of the soon-to-be independent Bofyrn.
Issihn continues to defend the forest that lies in the arms of the river, administered by a Minister-General of the Consulate Martial and home to a sizeable garrison. The land behind the city is used for slash-and-burn agriculture and a mix of small game hunting and forage.
