The Kaldaer Rebellion

The The Fall of the Empire of Carodin led to the The Expulsion of the Kaldaer and in further consequence to the occupation of the Kaldaer homelands in 1475PC by the forces of Empire of Vodjin and Kingdom of Édrun.   The occupation was brutal, with many of Kaldaer people either dying or loosing everything they had. The streams of refugees from former Kaldaer colonies caused massive overpopulation, which led to starvation, epidemics, crimes and the development of huge slums. The pleas of help of the Kaldaer chiefs were ignored, with edrunian and vodjin forces instead fighting over who should occupy the Kaldaer chiefdoms. Those conflicts saw Kaldaer people pressed into service by both realms and caused further civilian casualties. Many attempted to flee, with some groups trying to construct new settlements on the shores of the Sea of Lyaur. These attempts were shortlived however, as the quarreling parties showed no mercy to them. The message was clear: the Kaldaer were to accept their fate as subjects. After five terrible years, a unification of the chiefs, unprecedented in Kaldaer history, finally declared the end of foreign occupation in 1480PC and began military campaigns against Edrun and Vodjin. This led to a unique and often confusing situation of three parties fighting over dominance. The war dragged on for decades and varied in intensity, with short lived armistices and even some local alliances adding to the confusion.   While the Kaldaer were often outnumbered and lacked the resources of prolonged campaigns, they achieved considerable success in hit-and-run tactics as well as guerilla warfare. Finally, after almost 30 years of conflict, the successor states accepted the independence of the Kaldaer people and retreated their forces in 1508PC. The Kaldaer credit this solely to their superior will to fight and their righteous cause. Although this is true to a certain extend, the war tiredness of the great successor realms, who did fight on several other fronts during the Kaldaer Rebellion, certainly played a role as well.   The independence led to a new political map of the Sea of Lyaur, with many of the new chiefs beeing strong leaders of the rebellion who carved out their own territory during the fights.
