Nasu

Demographics

With such a small population, the majority of the population consists of farmers and hunters. A couple of noble families live within the village alongside the ruler Haga Nagatoshi and a smaller clan of samurai that protect the village. The population consists of humans,half-elves,gnomes,dwarfs,and some gith.

Government

Unlike the other cities within the tundra, Nasu only has one lord or land owner, Haga Nagatoshi. Haga is in charge of the day-to-day functions of the village, and the samurai clans answer to him. Haga Nagatoshi will still abide by Yun's law; he has a great deal of respect for her.

Defences

The only form of defense that exists is the small samurai clan that exists within the village. Random bandits around the tundra have tried to take advantage of this fact and have learned the hard way of what happens when you enter a battle with skilled samurai defending their home.

Industry & Trade

Luswil is the major trade asset within the city.

Infrastructure

Nasu is predominately a farming village, with a few groups of hunters within the village. Nasu has some of the more fertile land within the tundra, but without the assistance of transmutation magic, they struggle to keep the land warm enough to grow crops. Zoaging and Ikcho attempt to send mages to the village year-round to keep the soil warm enough for crop growth because when Nasu has successful crops, they can grow a huge amount. Enough to keep most of the country fed for a good portion of the year.

Assets

Outside of typical crops for general consumption, Nasu has excellent fields for growing Luswil. Which is a major asset the village uses for trade with other cities and countries.

History

Built under Shau Fe's leadership as a way to attempt to keep crops up throughout the year to help provide food for the country without relying on trade. Throughout the years, the village has remained very peaceful, minus the times they were attacked and forced to defend themselves. Even the major cities will send aid when it is needed, knowing how important Nasu is to feeding all of the citizens within the country. The people of Nasu tend to enjoy a simpler style of life. It is very uncommon for any villagers to be magically inclined, and when they are, they do not tend to remain within the village. Just as Zaoging and Ikcho were devastated by the Reckoning, Even to this day, you can see the ramifications of war spread throughout the ruins on the outskirts of the town.

Tourism

Outsiders are very welcome in Nasu. Many believe others showing interest in traveling to their home is a great sign of respect, and that respect needs to be repaid. Citizens do what they can to show hospitality to all those who venture here, and they always try to learn whatever they can from outsiders.

Architecture

Heavy materials like stone, mortar, and clay were abandoned as building elements, with simple wooden walls, floors, and partitions becoming prevalent. Native species like cedar were popular as an interior finish because of their prominent grain, while pine and larch were common for structural uses. Brick roofing tiles and a type of cypress called hinoki were used for roofs. It was sometime during this period that the hidden roof, a uniquely Japanese solution to roof drainage problems, was adopted. The increasing size of buildings in the capital led to an architecture reliant on columns regularly spaced in accordance with the ken, a traditional measure of both size and proportion. The style was characterized by symmetrical buildings placed as arms that defined an inner garden. This garden then used borrowed scenery to seemingly blend with the wider landscape.

Geography

Similar to the other cities within the tundra, Nasu has to deal with the extreme climate. However, villagers here, more so than in other cities, have learned how to adapt to the harsh climate by finding ways to help grow crops year-round. Nasu has one of the largest bodies of water within the country to the east of it, and Ikcho is not much more than a day or so away on horseback to the west.
