Vethenia
The Allurium of Vethenia is a country in the centre of the Ageless Realm and bordering the Wasted Sea to the East, the Unclimbable Mountains to the West, Loftinia to the South and Drotland to the North.
The nature is dominated by grasslands and forests. Minor lakes are scattered through the countryside. The largest forest is Olfern (Everglade) which is situated along the Unclimbable Mountains in the Northwest of Vethenia.
As a result "Haltsword" is used a derogatory term for traitors. Vethenian conservatives tend to use the term in general about people from Charforth.
Ichtar the Poet wrote the following in his diary after witnessing the ash covered landscape: "And everywhere the silence of death is growing with every piece of ash colouring the hills grey." Ichtar's description would give name to the Grey Hills.
This way of governing has led to large differences between the ruling class and the people.

History
Founded by Irena the Stonelayer and Raftor the Cruel in the year 412 of the Fourth Age. Irena and Raftor sought to find a way to defend their seperate family estates. Therefore, they gathered the dynasty heads of the 13 largest families and created the Allurium Council. Within a year the council had gathered the support of the peoples living on their lands and united the dynasties into one nation.The Great Rift
In 505 of the Fourth Age, members of the Allurium Council tried to overthrow the government and create a sovereign nation centering on Charforth. The leader of the insurrection was alluri Treftan Haltsword. This led to major suffering for the common population who were led to pick sides in a conflict they never wished for. The conflict ended in 507 of the Fourth Age when Majoria Wreathtaker successfully killed Treftan in a duel in Scarborough.As a result "Haltsword" is used a derogatory term for traitors. The Arkonian Pestilence
At the end of the sixth century in the years 596 through 599 of the Fourth Age, Vethenia was hit by a plague which was named the Arkonian Pestilence . This was during King Arkon the Great's rule and it is generally believed that the disease came with an ship from the North called the Fervent. Many of the events from the plague years are today deemed as legend or myth, but scholars estimate that approximately 60% of the Vethenian population died. One way to prevent the spread of the plague was to burn settlements were the disease was rampant. War with Loftinia
The first armed conflict between Vethenia and Loftinia began after a trade conflict on the river Aldmuind in 733 of the Fourth Age. Since then more than 10 wars have been fought with Loftinia and the two nations are currently in a official state of war even if the intensity has dropped during the last 5 years.Politics & Governance
Vethenia is ruled by an aristocratic council called the Allurium Council . The council members vote on a Head of State which then rules for life. The current head of state is Orthos Lumitros .This way of governing has led to large differences between the ruling class and the people.
