Neryse Linda Balmora was born 17 September, 2096 to Alexander and Felicity Balmora in Burnaby, Canada. Niether of her parents are known to have powers and were both immigrants to Canada from Wales as children. Neither of her parents where religious and despite her political activism, Neryse has not expressed any particular religious beliefs.
2096 - 2112: Early Life and School
Early in her life it became obvious that Neryse was a gifted performer. She has been tested many times for powers linked to performance skills and has never shown any manifestation of powers and insists she has not snapped. Her performing skills match some of the most well known actors and musicians with powers; and she is considered to be at the top of what is possible for non-powered performers. She was one of the rare non-powered students accepted to attend the prestigious Vancouver School for the Performing Arts at the age of seven. She exhibited both acting and musical talent and during school she was often the lead in musicals, mastered most string instruments, and perfected her signature powerful voice.
When she was 16 years old, she and two of her other un-powered classmates decided that it would better to strike out on thier own and create a kind of music that would be accessible to both the powered and un-powered alike. They founded the band Hero Blitz in 2112 and made a demo stream covering old Joy Formidable songs.
2112-2116: Founder of Hero-gazer Music
Neryse along with fellow classmates Robert Nichols and Jonathan O'Hansen founded the band Hero Blits in 2112. At the same time, she started going by the stage name "Blitzy." Her and her band mates took their inspiration from the original Seattle grunge sound because of both its simplicity and its sense of angst. The bands stated goal was to create a new sound that was accessible to everyone. As such their music does not contain the complex rhythms found in music created by individuals with various prehensile limbs and none of the hyper-sonic sounds found in singers with super-powered voices.
Along with other Vancouver bands, she pioneered a new sound known as Hero-gazer Music, and the bands first album was nominated for a Grammy and Juno award for best new album.
2116 - Present: "Fuck the Edenist and Screw the Meek"
At their now infamous 26 April, 2116, Herofest concert, Blitzy started the band's performance with a 30 minute comedy set that took aim at both the Edenists and the Meek movement for the divisive affect those movement have had on society. The band then took the stage for a two hour performance. The performance earned the band a Grammy and Juno award for Best Live Performance. In addition, Blitzy received a Grammy and Juno for Best Spoken Word for the 30 minute comedy routine.Since, this concert Blitzy has started all of the bands live performances with improvisational comedy routines that take inspiration from the politics of the day and are heavily laced with anti-Meek and anti-Edenist themes of equality for all levels of superpowers or lack thereof.
In addition, Blitzy started appearing in small film and television roles shot in and around Vancouver. Her acting career has been significantly less successful then her comedy and music careers and consists mostly of supporting roles and voice over work. However, every Hero Blitz album released since 2116 has been up for Grammy and Juno awards in the Alternate Rock category. Blitzy is, also, frequently nominated for comedy awards and is an annual headliner at the Montreal Comedy Festival.
Despite her and the band's critical success, they have only received modest commercial success. The band makes most of thier income from playing live performances in Vancouver. They release a new streaming album about every two years that hits the top 10 on the alternate rock and hero-gazer charts. But, these genres continue to have mostly niche audiences and lack the mass appeal found in powered musical acts.
Controversy
In 2118, both the Meek and the Edenist made an all out effort to get the band's 4th album, A Splash of Power for the Meek, widely banned. They accused the band and Blitzy in particular of exaggerating their politics with their lyrics and her comedy routines. It is widely thought by Blitzy's fans that the reason she is nominated but never wins awards is the influence of these groups on the various academies.
