Hero Blitz is a Hero-gazer Music band formed in 2112 and based in Vancouver, Canada. The band consists of Neryse "Blitzy" Balmora (lead vocal, guitar, strings), Robert Nichols (bass guitar, vocals), and Jonathan "Quip" O'Hansen (drums, percussion).

History

2112-2116: The beginning and the birth of Hero-gazer

Classmates in the prestigious Vancouver School for the performing arts, Neryse "Blitzy" Balmora, Robert Nichols and Jonathan "Quip" O'Hansen grew tired of playing the complex kind of modern music played by powered musicians and decided to branch out on their own to create a new sound. Taking inspiration from the Seattle Grunge sound of the early 2000's, they create a style of music grounded in soaring guitar licks, heavy drumbeats played by only 4 limbs, and strong vocals from Neryse's incredibly versatile un-powered vocal range.   They got their first streaming deal based on a demo covering the old Joy Formidable song, The Whirring. It was not long after that they started writing and performing their own music. Their first album, Flatfooted with Bare Teeth, was a modest success and gained the most listener-ship within Western North America. Even with a modest success, they were nominated for best new artist at both the Grammy and Juno Awards.   Their second album was a much bigger success on the streaming charts and cemented their unique sound. It was after this that other bands from Vancouver, like Flattened Villains and Laser Eyes, began to copy their sound and Hero-gazer Music was born. All off these bands, were signed by the fledgling Canucktown Records label that had produced Hero Blitz's streams, thus, making Vancouver, BC the epicenter of a retro, yet all new, music revolution.

2116- present: Activism and the balance of "powers"

On 23 April 2116, Blitzy took to the stage without her band and trademark Gibson Stratocaster; and gave her now famous comedy act before the band played it's set at Herofest 2016. A routine that became known as "Fuck the Edenist and Screw the Meek," Neryse skewered both movements for the divisions they were creating in society. It is considered one of the funnest impromptu satiric comedy routines in modern popular culture. After which, the band played a two hour signature set to a standing ovation. The stream from this concert earned the band a Grammy and Juno award for Best Live Performance in 2116.   Neryse's comedy routines have become a signature of the band's live performances and both Edenist and the Meek are often the targets of her humor for what Blitzy says is their increasingly extremist views on how the powered and non-powered should interact. These routines are considered especially insightful, by their fans, given the bands lack of powers. Hero Blitz's own lyrics have shifted to themes of balance. Those lyrics frequently feature a narrative of the powered and non-powered living in harmony together as equals. They have released two albums since that famous performance and all of them have hit the top 10 on the Canadian streaming charts.

Controversy

In 2118, both the Meek and the Edenist made an all out effort to get the bands 4th album, A Splash of Power for the Meek, widely banned. They accused the band and Blitzy in particular of exaggerating their politics with their lyrics and her comedy routines. They sued the band for libel and slander in Alberta and Florida. While, also, running a mostly unsuccessful boycott of Hero Blitz streams. Eventually, the lawsuit was thrown out of the courts and only places directly controlled by either movement had the band's music taken off the streams.
