Hero-gazer Music
Summary
A genre of popular music that derives its influences from Seattle's grunge scene of the early 2000's. This genre originated in Vancouver, Canada with the bands Hero Blitz, Flattened Villains, and Laser Eyes. Hero-gazer bands rarely have powered musicians. The result is a simplified classic sound without the complexity found in modern music made with super-powered voices or multiple limbs. The music often contains lyrics about the powered and non-powered getting together in love and life. It speaks to the divisions in modern society and desire for a balance between those with powers and those without.Prominent Bands

Controversy
Hero-gazing has been criticized by both the Meek and Edenist movements for its general call for a balance between the powered and non-powered alike. Front woman Neryse "Blitzy" Balmora of Hero Blitz has been known to start her concerts with her famous "Fuck the Edenists and Screw the Meek" comedy routine before laying down her trademark soaring guitar licks and belting out pro-equality lyrics. Flattened Villains has gone as far as playing concerts were you get a free ticket for bringing a partner whose powered status is the opposite of their own. Since then both the Edenists and Meek have tried to make that practice illegal. Both movements have worked to censor Hero-gazer music in places where they have political power, such as Alberta and Florida. Despite this, streaming ratings for the genre's biggest acts continue to be robust in Canada and the Western US.Remove these ads. Join the Worldbuilders Guild
